... seems like some "we walked to school uphill both ways" thinking

he's been a development rider for the bike and had another wild card somewhat recently IIRC

Most importantly, he's been doing drag races on Carwow

To be clear, my sharing the post is not an endorsement. I don’t have the experience to make make my opinion on the issue meaningful. It’s an interesting discussion though - possibly with some merit to it?

it's definitely interesting. i was initially quite surprised by his performance.

I think Bautista has a wild card on the pack leading bike... will be interesting to see how he performs. Would not put him in Pedrosa's class as a rider and he wont be as familiar with the bike, but he's been racing consistently

Wow now there’s a new set up.
Guess:
*Top Left rotating lever SQUAT AT LAUNCH
*under that release Squat
Under that Squat for turns hold/release
under that espresso? I think Pecco is a straight up neat espresso man.
thumb brake would be right side

I thought the right thumb was the neutral switch.

I think the ride height for the start is different than the ride height after he apexes a turn and is vertical and going to apply full power down the straight.

Agreed. I think they brake to compress the forks at the start line and then drop the rear by twisting the wing nut on the triple clamp, and they drop the rear on corner exit with a thumb switch.

Pretty sure the rear end returns to original height under braking.

Braking forces disengage the rear ride height device automagically. Same mechanism used at the start and during the race but different methods of activating it.

From motomatters:
The device functions as follows: before the start of the race (or before a practice start), the rider uses their weight to compress the suspension, then twists the lever to engage the mechanism. The mechanism then locks the rear suspension in a lower position for the duration of the start. When the rider arrives at the first corner, and brakes hard before entering the turn. That hard braking causes the rear to lift, which in turn triggers the unlocking mechanism, which frees the device and returns the rear suspension to its normal operation.

I believe the button is for opening the hydraulic valve to get it to squat not for disengaging it
