Looks like when Motorcyclist dyno'd the Panigale R they forgot to disconnect the TC:

All the other comparos I can recall always resulted in the 1199 R (or S) laying down HP figures close to the HP4/S1000RR. My first thought was they got a bum bike, but the 1/4 mile and track times (as well as subjective comments on power delivery) for the R were right where they should be (eg 9.99 in the 1/4), leading me to believe that the culprit involved improper prep for the dyno.

Not a big deal, as the R still performed quite well (2nd to the HP4), but still....

And no, I won't post the entire article--pick it up for yourself (or score a copy on Zinio), ya cheapskate, and support these guys who bust their ..... riding and writing for a living. How else will they ever make enough money to pay for a "How to dyno a Panigale" class?

"Horsepower junkies rejoice – the least powerful motor of this trio jams out more than 160 ponies! The Panigale R surprised us by topping the HP4 with a stupefying 186.8 hp when fitted with its race exhaust (and ECU tuning) that is delivered with the bike – that’s more than a Hayabusa! We were unable to dyno test the street Termignoni setup after our test bike mysteriously conked out at the track."

I posted my dyno results last week with the full Termi. DTC on 5, 174hp at the tire, I'm unaware of if the bike was set to 195 low or hi but I would think that wouldn't matter...

I just dynod my stock S on Saturday without the speed sensor removed but DTC turned off in Race Mode, 164.1.

Which mode? If it was in Sport Mode (sounds like it was of DTC was set to 5) then it was on Lo unless you specifically changed it to Hi in the settings.

Does this really matter? It's not like we don't know what numbers the bike does?

I can't stand inaccuracies though. Clearly that number isn't correct, and I hate wasting breath when the Ducati haters show up to the table and spout off these false numbers.

I tend to agree that it doesn't really matter in the big scheme of things. That said, some less savvy consumer may base their purchases on things like these and that could mean less money for Ducaudi to develop the next great bike.
