Dealer picked up bike Friday. Never called me to get the ball rolling. I called them all day without answer (they were busy I understand that). Saturday morning while at work Service Manager gave me a call and explained because these are "adjustable" (only shifter height is adj) rear sets they don't usually apply loctite to the nut holding the shift pedal on. He proceeded to tell me how the 1199 is a vibration nightmare so I continued on how loctite would've probably been advisable (but hey I'm not the competent Ducati mechanic). They informed me that luckily DP does sell just their DP shifter alone for $255 YIKES. They explained how they'd be covering it as I was "mad" at the dealership. I was told a 5-10 day lead time from Italy. So no bike for over two weeks because of a LACK of competence. I'm sad, but its probably best to stay off these NJ roads for a few days as our favorite speeders and reckless driver are down from Brooklyn. Guy made a comment on the phone about how they "should" pull the rearsets apart and loctite over everything (as they didn't initially). Then I brought up how one of this bikes first recalls was a LACK OF LOCTITE for pete sake.

We also got into how the rearsets come shipped half put together. Clearly they are not bolt on ready and you have to TIGHTEN EVERYTHING. I was told the mechanic "probably" didn't go over the bolts that were already 'tight' from the factory. Could be worse. Theres an update.

Caliduc- I called DNA, boy are they useless. Two guys only answer the phone, they sound mid-20's and were just "what do you want me to do about it?" Great customer service. They did however point to the dealer who is resolving this. They said if issues like this don't get resolved @Dealership level they could involve the Regional Rep. Thank you for the suggestion though :) Its great to hear about the dealerships that go over most of the bike with loctite predelivery and get a $100 Setup Fee. My dealership snags $450 (I think) and couldn't even throw the god damn passenger pegs on mine. (it took them two weeks from the date of deliver to find them)

Figured I'd do an update before people start saying this was made up like people have done on every other post of mine lol.

I had the exact same problem on my AFAM sprocket/carrier I dropped off at the dealer already assembled. After riding home, then a few days later, I noticed a couple nuts were loose, I called them He said that they did not re-tighten the assembled pieces I dropped off - He instructed me not to ride the bike, and he stopped by my house on the way home with a torque wrench, and re-tightened everything on the rear assembly. That is service!

I see you don't trust those torque numbers you posted either. I still haven't found my rear shock.

So how do you like those DP rear sets? I'm looking at buying a set.

I love them! I installed them myself and went through and applied thread locker to all pieces as suggested by other wonderful forum members here and so far so good.:)

I thought I would throw out a non-biased opinion for you since I have been able to use them with the shifter attached.:D

Calm down WhitePani! A lot of drama about missing shifter. It cannot be good for your health to get so stressed up about a relatively minor incident.

Do not get Ducati no. 3, you already have a wrong bike. If I were you I would sell the Pani and get something much more simple to own. Like Honda.

You said the bike scares the .... out of you, you never go above 6000 RPM . You keep it in a high gear whenever cruising around town. (I thought you were joking but it seems you really meant what you said). The bike is falling into pieces because you do not ride it properly.

There is a HUGE gap in service between dealers. You better never move, Trauma and, if you do, you better switch bikes. :)

I've been having a battle with the bolt on the upgraded full termi heat shield. I've lost bolts 3 times. Once with blue loctite; when my replacement bolts arrive, I will be moving up to red, then green and so on. -.-

The collars are each $5.99 spacers x 2 >.<. I'm going to start stocking up at Fastenal.

What is stopping the dealer from contacting another dealer that may have the DP rear sets in stock, transferring a new rearset over, putting the missing lever from the new rearset on your bike, and then selling the rearset complete when the replacement part comes in from Italy. That would get you on the road asap, and they would still have a complete rearset once the part that is missing comes in.

win win.

Depends on the dealer, a legit dealer would do this. I had a dealer damage my lower during service, they pulled one off the bike on the floor and ordered one for it so I could be on my way. They certainly don't have to, and it took me emailing their general manager... that got results quick. But damn, was the service guy pissed.

Sounds like it - wild range of service around the world. My service guy works here, lives in Louisville KY - commutes home every Sat night, back Monday (4 hours), so very commited in general.

I bought a set today, tracking them this Sunday!

Should you be mad at the dealer or yourself

I have to ask the question. WHY did you pay someone to have these BOLT ON items installed at 120/hour? Good rule of thumb, if its within your ability, do it yourself! Who is going to do the best work on YOUR cycle? My assumption here is that you have the skills, if you dont, then you better have lots of $$$ to keep a Ducati in the stables and learn to deal with entry level techs installing bling on YOUR bike while the master techs do real work on other bikes......

Hey. I honestly wasn't feeling this myself. Whenever I do .... like this I always manage to forget something and figured I'd pay (the original quote) the $180 they said to do it. I figured it'd be a good job. I was wrong. Should I decide to keep this bike I'll be picking myself up a full mechanics tool set and doing most of my basic installs myself. That way when a bolt falls off and I can't ride it for three weeks I can't be angry at anyone else, except myself. I'm new to the ins and outs of Ducati and will be taking your advice. Thanks

Do you already have the DP Race seat? IMO it's a must when using the DP Rearsets as they're much higher. Enjoy them! Make sure to use a minimum of Blue Loctite on all parts of them. Let me 21 days without my bike be a lesson.

I have a slight anger problem if you guys haven't figured that out. I promise I'm a good guy in person, but when things like this happen with things I love I get VERY upset. Hope my word choice doesn't offend any of you.

IMHO, you have a right to be mad. You are missing out on a month of prime riding season and to make matters worse it is because of something you paid good money to have installed correctly by a professional. I'd be mad too.
