Damn! Don't use that lawyer!!!
Dealer picked up bike Friday. Never called me to get the ball rolling. I called them all day without answer (they were busy I understand that). Saturday morning while at work Service Manager gave me a call and explained because these are "adjustable" (only shifter height is adj) rear sets they don't usually apply loctite to the nut holding the shift pedal on. He proceeded to tell me how the 1199 is a vibration nightmare so I continued on how loctite would've probably been advisable (but hey I'm not the competent Ducati mechanic). They informed me that luckily DP does sell just their DP shifter alone for $255 YIKES. They explained how they'd be covering it as I was "mad" at the dealership. I was told a 5-10 day lead time from Italy. So no bike for over two weeks because of a LACK of competence. I'm sad, but its probably best to stay off these NJ roads for a few days as our favorite speeders and reckless driver are down from Brooklyn. Guy made a comment on the phone about how they "should" pull the rearsets apart and loctite over everything (as they didn't initially). Then I brought up how one of this bikes first recalls was a LACK OF LOCTITE for pete sake.
We also got into how the rearsets come shipped half put together. Clearly they are not bolt on ready and you have to TIGHTEN EVERYTHING. I was told the mechanic "probably" didn't go over the bolts that were already 'tight' from the factory. Could be worse. Theres an update.
Caliduc- I called DNA, boy are they useless. Two guys only answer the phone, they sound mid-20's and were just "what do you want me to do about it?" Great customer service. They did however point to the dealer who is resolving this. They said if issues like this don't get resolved @Dealership level they could involve the Regional Rep. Thank you for the suggestion though Its great to hear about the dealerships that go over most of the bike with loctite predelivery and get a $100 Setup Fee. My dealership snags $450 (I think) and couldn't even throw the god damn passenger pegs on mine. (it took them two weeks from the date of deliver to find them)
Figured I'd do an update before people start saying this was made up like people have done on every other post of mine lol.
I...He instructed me not to ride the bike, and he stopped by my house on the way home with a torque wrench, and re-tightened everything on the rear assembly. That is service!
So how do you like those DP rear sets? I'm looking at buying a set.
I had the exact same problem on my AFAM sprocket/carrier I dropped off at the dealer already assembled. After riding home, then a few days later, I noticed a couple nuts were loose, I called them He said that they did not re-tighten the assembled pieces I dropped off - He instructed me not to ride the bike, and he stopped by my house on the way home with a torque wrench, and re-tightened everything on the rear assembly. What is stopping the dealer from contacting another dealer that may have the DP rear sets in stock, transferring a new rearset over, putting the missing lever from the new rearset on your bike, and then selling the rearset complete when the replacement part comes in from Italy. That would get you on the road asap, and they would still have a complete rearset once the part that is missing comes in.
win win.
There is a HUGE gap in service between dealers. You better never move, Trauma and, if you do, you better switch bikes.
I love them! I installed them myself and went through and applied thread locker to all pieces as suggested by other wonderful forum members here and so far so good.
I thought I would throw out a non-biased opinion for you since I have been able to use them with the shifter attached.
I have to ask the question. WHY did you pay someone to have these BOLT ON items installed at 120/hour? Good rule of thumb, if its within your ability, do it yourself! Who is going to do the best work on YOUR cycle? My assumption here is that you have the skills, if you dont, then you better have lots of $$$ to keep a Ducati in the stables and learn to deal with entry level techs installing bling on YOUR bike while the master techs do real work on other bikes......
I bought a set today, tracking them this Sunday!
