New evo 2 software

...And this specific version of evo2 is not on any factory bike, example:
no factory bike has an unrestricted speedometer, so just because v4r or 2020 bikes came with something similar, it is not valid to assume this upgrade marketed as race only is the same and will function as well with street tires as factory street legal software does.

Right. It’s all just tweaked software aka improved ’Evo2’ scripts of same revised codebase to config/map DTC/DQS strategies either for ‘track only’ use or ‘street legal’ use.

‘Unrestricted speedo’ is also just a simple config setting for same codebase:
ON to include in ‘track only’ Evo2 version and OFF (as ‘- - -‘) for ‘street legal‘ versions of V4.

My dealer spent a few days going back and forth with DNA to get confirmation .... The accessory is what we're talking about.

Ducati BeNeLux and my dealer did exactly the same with this factory reply.
DMH After Sales must be quite busy with this by their own Marketeers created ‘Evo2’ confusion? lol

@FooRider do you have either of the Akra exhausts? What are your riding modes called now? Does your DTC configuration screen give you the warnings about slicks/rains?

I have stock exhaust and the Evo 2 that I have in the 2019 V4 standard is the accessory 96580201A. Riding modes changed to Wet Evo, Sport Evo and Race Evo. DTC configuration shows rain tires only for DTC level 7-8 and slicks only for 1-6.

Ducati’s web page shows under accessories Evo 2 accessory (96580201A) also for 2020 V4. And that is the race only accessory. But 2020 V4 has already Evo 2 DTC and DQS... not sure how this could get any more confusing.

I had just my 2019 Panigale V4 updated to Evo 2. I had not even realized before doing the update that it was marked as race only update. It may be marked ”for race only” because something in the update does not meet homologation requirements etc (like speedometer going over 300 km/h) or Ducati has not done some official certifaction testing etc for 2018-19 updated to Evo 2. This is pure speculation from my part.

I have now driven street for about 1000 km with Evo2 and quick shifter feels nicer. Would not like to go back to Evo (1). Track will tell someday (when the virus allows..) how the DTC works with Supercorsa SP V3.

I would also be curious to know if there is anything compromised in Evo 2 DTC when using Supercorsa SP V3 street tires.

I’m in the same boat. I have a 2018 and did the update and only done street miles so far but the quick shifter feels like it should have from day one. Mind you I also have the Cordina QS.

I will be doing a track day with supercorsa V3 as soon as the virus allows.

Keen as well for others in the same boat.

WTF?! Unbelievable! Really?

If so, not even Ducati BeNeLux together with my dealership is able to get the correct answers from Bologna After-Sales about what this accessory 96580201A actually contains?

My dealership was very sure that DMH said this to him:
"N - <dashboard> Riding-modes are in this 'DTC Evo2' software update NOT renamed to: 'Race-Evo', 'Sport-Evo' & 'Wet-Evo' modes (They stay: Race, Sport, Street). This software naming-update is only additionally installed with revised mapping for the 'track-only' Ducati Performance exhausts (i.e. Akrapovic slip-ons and full-system race exhaust);"

Anyway, I'll take your word for it since you ówn a V4S yourselves with 96580201A installed (unlike most factory staff?) and obviously you know hands-on better what DMH provides with 96580201A then DMH themselves!

For your 2020 at least you get your "- - -" speedo freed, some fancy in-dash 'Race-' riding mode renames, besides 2 new disclaimers for the 'Race-Evo2' your original 2020 'Street-Evo2' DTC now has been remapped to. Real life experience will show us if 'Race-Evo2' doesn't consume your streettires quicker then the 'Street-Evo2'...

'I give up' or should I say 'give in' (?!) and get the bloody accessory 96580201A installed on mine too! Tx

Yes, my riding mode names did indeed change :) I bought the Evo 2 update exactly for the reason that it might save back tire a bit more. But who knows if the tire wear is even more with street tyre Supercorsas on track if the predictive algorithm thinks it has slick level grip and puts too much power before traction control intervenes.

I found a service bulletin for Evo 2 96580201A install which has a table at the end of different combinations of DSB, BBS & ECU softwares for different exhausts and tyres. Maybe this explains some of the differences. I’m wondering if the first row of ”OEM” is Evo 2 for street tires or the reguar Evo (1?) for 18-19 V4.

Now I'm kind of curious if my dealer installed the right one... That table has multiple options.

I know you got your answers from Ducati, but I had 6000 miles on my V4S(s) and I can definitely tell the EBC parameters are changed quite bit.

Ok I take my claim back... the engine braking doesn't have anything to do with the EVO 2. I rode another V4S with the Akra full system without Evo 2, and it was doing the same thing.
So it could be either the Up-map or I really forgot how the bike rode before. :)

I'm a little late to the party....I have the 2019 base V4. I had the new EVO 2 track only software installed and I have ridden aggressively on the street and track, on street tires and slicks. The bike works great with either street tires or slicks. It did indeed change the dash as I no longer have a street option, only Sport Evo , Race Evo and Wet Evo. The halo effect at high RPM seems revised and more visible. Speed limit removed for sure! Ask me how I know. lol The engine breaking has always seemed a little to aggressive for me on any setting before and after the upgrade. But it really only engages at very low speeds. Depending on the track or turn, its not much of an issue for me as I get accustomed to it. Check out my buddies Instagram page for some video footage (dash view) if you want to make your own assessment as best as one can from a video. IG page is rcfourfive.

I recently also had the 96580201A installed in my '18 V4S.

Don't mind the inverted display, Before picture is taken in a garage so V4 switched to inverted night-time mode.

A few details worth mentioning with this ECU 96580201A update, some Ducati did not communicate:

- indeed also with my standard exhaust, my riding-modes with this 'DTC Evo2' software update installed ARE renamed to: 'Race-Evo', 'Sport-Evo' & 'Wet-Evo' modes;

- 'Lap on/off' is now continuously shown on the dashboard in 'Race-Evo' and 'Sport-Evo' modes;

- If DMS is installed, 'Laptimer on/off' has replaced 'Player on/off' control in the top menu when in 'Race-Evo' and 'Sport-Evo' modes. DMS Player control is now only present in top menu (replacing Laptimer on/off) when in 'Wet-Evo' mode. So you can only control DMS Music/ Calls through V4 dash while in 'Wet-Evo' mode or Laptimer control only in 'Race-Evo' and 'Sport-Evo' modes. When music is playing you can change to a faster ECU pre-set and continue to listen to streamed music (on PackTalk), but to control the DMS player you must first change back to 'Wet-Evo' mode and choose Player in the menu. Odd that Bologna didn't just add both Player and Laptimer to the top menu making the scrolling list just 1 option longer. Instead now only either Player or Laptimer option?!;

- Looking closely at the RPM dail one notices that, compared to the original V4 dail, the spatial distance of this 'Evo2' RPM dail is decreased between 0-6000rpm freeing up room for the higher rev-range may be to improve readability of RPM more precisely when racing (it's primary purpose!)?;

- Contrary to DMH claim, I also believe DQS shifts much smoother than the original setting my '18 came with. Especially in low revs;

- don't have a snapshot yet, but can confirm above 299kmh/ 186mph the '- - -" is replaced by a continous real speed figure;

- upcoming mountain trip hopefully will prove if rear tire-wear of my RC2 set is improved by the more refined 'Evo2' DTC profile...
