Steven I think the standard rearsets will be fine for a while, there will be plenty of options by the time the bike is released. I like the standard ones on both the twin and the 4, they are high quality castings, very light and well positioned (for me anyway) the problem is that they are useless in a crash, are non adjustable and have pivot pins that seem to get sloppy. The pegs are reasonably grippy when new but wear reasonably quickly and if I didn't already rush in and get three sets of aftermarket's when I bought the bike, I'd just buy everyone's cast offs for peanuts and burn through them!

What seems to be a bit of a wallet rape is the need to buy a full system to unlock the race features, slip on's are all I'd go for now since having the full system- a few reasons, the gains don't seem so be value for money and I quite like the low pipes for a bit less vulnerability in a crash and the clean look.

Spider will have theirs ready for EICMA and CNC racing are working on theirs at the moment (low exhaust option first), so there will be options available very soon.

Holy moly, I just did a configuration of the base with full system, race software and TPMS, its the best part 35K and we haven't even really got started with the other bling we all need! If you add in a few more items like the pegs etc you will knocking on double the base price door- ouch!

It’s nuts. As I said before, the full exhaust being one third of the price of the base bike… come off it.

Don’t forget to add on suspension to that - at least the shock.

I’d be perfectly happy with the low-exit half-system (it doesn’t need more power of course but the weight saving is nice). TPMS and DDL. Forged wheels. Wouldn’t worry about the dry clutch for the time being. Change the battery for a lithium one. That’s 36,000 Euros plus suspension and rearsets. And something to replace the lights or the track fairings kit if that’s the only way to do it.

Tax for bike in CA + accessories $3200
Registration fees $2k
Forged wheels $2-3k
Suspension $2500

Your into $40k+ easy

Watch latest 44teeth YouTube. No wonder Sep YoY sales are down 14%

Okay so the lowest I can get the V4 base and be interested in buying is:

On top of that you have about $5k taxes and delivery so over $40k for the base.

BUT to actually get the lowest cost version of what they are marketing so heavily here’s the cost:

With tax a delivery your now at $55k, plus labor another $4k so 59k…and you still need headlight and taillight blockoffs, a lighter sprocket and chain $500…wheels $5k for after market CF, and a proper brake MC $700, and proper readers $900, and a tune to remove the USA restrictions $700…you are now at $65,000 to get what they are marketing…for that money I think I’d buy a 2023 V4R and put a RADE tank, CF wheels, my Sicom Rotors, and possibly a Suter or Pierobon Swingarm and keep using my thumb brake.

We’ll see.

I think this new bike will lose $10k to $20k in value off of total delivery costs the minute you drive it off the lot. Because it’s going to be an incredibly small market for this bike at those prices.
It's an incredibly small market, even with the current V4. Last year the best-selling (worldwide) models were the Multistrada at 11k units, Monster at 8k, and Scrambler at 6k. They didn't even mention any other models in the press releases, but it's fair to assume that the DX, Hyper, the Diavels, SS, and SF sell in higher volumes than the Panigale. So, it's a reasonable guess that they sell fewer than 1500 Panigales a year, across all trims. That's why they didn't care about keeping the design as a priority with the new model - there are simply too few buyers for such a decision to significantly impact sales or profit.

It's definitely a lot more than 1500, but I think the point is made that these bikes are a bit of a specialist/luxury item.
And to be fair once you get to the level that these bikes are then every second faster around a track is 10s of thousands in upgrades

Hang in there with your beautiful 916 for awhile longer and then get one of the Starbucks specials when they inevitably come up for sale!

I think I have the 916 sold, what I will probably do is just hold off until the R comes, which I’d be willing to shell out more on, or as you said wait till a Starbucks special shows up, that’s how I ended up with the 916 in the 1st place. Hard to justify 45k for showa and sachs. And the double sided swingarm and new electronics aren’t worth $65k to me. You can find XTrenta’s for less with better trims on the bike.

R will most likely come in 26. And if you think a base is expensive, wait until you see what an R will be. I'd anticipate at least $50k for the bike (19 =$45k $40k, 23 = $45k) + another $9500 for the full exhaust and DVAC and then $5k tax + $2k labor + $5200 reg fees. You'll be bumping into $70k+ for a new R
