Its quite shocking how many people don't realize that riding quickly, safely and fast is a skill. It's an enormous skill and a lot of it is god given. They honestly feel that just purchasing their 600 means they are now Joe Rocket. Then they will ride around on the city streets and still never spend a few thousand miles up in the mountain's windy roads and actually make some turns where they might learn something. I don't criticize them for this, just like I don't criticize country boys for not knowing how to put on an expensive suit and tie, and you don't criticize city boys for not knowing anything about tractors or other outdoor activities. Everybody gets to live and learn. Still its shocking how not fast people are and how little most riders understand about their chosen hobby. Anybody that has any doubt about what I'm saying needs only to go to their local ride or meet up and ask people if they've had their suspension set up.
There are some people who ride that never get a true sense of what the bike is doing under them. They can't feel what going on. Chassis can be totally out of whack and they seem to not know. Then they chase their squid friends. Scary.

I think that’s what ‘talent’ is on these bikes. At least to some extent. People seem to have a really broad range in sensitivity levels to lots of things in life. If you have a lot of sensitivity to the bike and the tires, combine with quick reflexes and an aversion to risk you probably have a talent for Motorsports. When I was younger I had all three of those, at 54 I have 1 one them 😂😂😂

All of those poor fuckers that never got to drive a RWD car in the snow.

Omg, haven’t thought about that in awhile.

That reminds me of the RWD 911s. The back end is breaking lose and against your better judgement you gotta add gas to tighten it back up. Not intuitive. In college I had a RX-7, but my friends, these two brothers, both had 911s ( not new, lol), so I got to learn something about them.

I saw this video — I Think is was Casey Stoner but might not be remembering correctly — but as a little kid he is in the back yard riding his mini-bike and his dad has the hose and is spraying down the yard to make it more slippery. There was some comment about leaning to slide both tires as such an early age was the key to being a top MotoGp rider.

Those mini-bikes that just had a scrub brake were so much fun.

The last big snow storm we had here, the media did an interview with some cucked gender non-binary blue haired thing that said the biggest problem was not being able to see the pained lines on the road...They cut to some country AF dude with a camouflage hat that said something to the effect of, it's ok to slide it, you just have to control it and be gentle with it.

I'm missing the risk aversion bit does that apply? We are after all riding motorcycles.

Fast Freddy commented one time on learning to ride on wet pavement strewn with wet leaves. That will teach you to catch slides. I took my then 5 year old son, I bought him a PW50 for his birthday, armored him and let him ride it the first time on the grass at the local middle school. Tucked the front, tucked the front... until he didn't. BTW I love the early 911's before they went to the many link rear suspension. So much fun to drive.

I still strong on the sensitivity to what the bike and tires are doing…but my reaction time and agility is waning, while my risk aversion is increasing lol

I wouldn’t say I’m risk averse, I’m riding 200hp bikes at track, but I’ve been super methodical about building speed, whereas if I was less risk averse I think I’d progress faster.

Although in some ways I think the RC 8C is helping in that manner. I’m fine with laying that bike down and way more confident in my ability to handle the bike when things go sideways.

I’m the same age as you and have exactly the same feeling about it.

I would definitely have progressed a lot faster when I was younger. I would definitely have already crashed as well. But I would have bounced a lot better. 🤣

I see that are again looking at liter bikes. Why do you not put a bigger motor in the KTM? Wife, kids, mortgage alters one's behavior also. I agree it's better to sneak up on the edge.

The KTM is perfect as it is, if I do any mods to it, it will be a lightweight starter and flywheel so the engine spins up faster. And there is a tune available now that will get a bit more out of her.

Decent video, but nothing technically new. It was cool to hear about the initial collaborations with Bosch engineering and then Ducati taking it on their own with no mention of Bosch…
