Noise Complaint!

I suggest, next time she complains, you tell her that:

if she can hear your bike in her house then she obviously does not have double glazing or very good insulation in her home and that she is therefore environmentally inconsiderate

Unlike you, a responsible citizen who has chosen to ride a motorcycle which is considerably less impact on traffic congestion and the environment. :D

I can understand if it's a common occurrence but if it just a one off I hate to say It but you going to have a nightmare neighbour.

I tend to use my bike as a weekend toy so on the odd ocassion I'll leave a 7am for an early ride out on a Sunday. My neighbours are very understanding and I make a big effort of saying hello and inviting them over to look at any new purchases.

I used to have a Lamborghini Murci with straight through pipes which makes my Panny sound quiet so guessing my neighbours are probably happy that's gone :D

I have a good friend who has to push his 1098R all the way down road before starting it as the neighbours get upset, he does run a full 70mm race system.

I like your style Delta:cool: Like I said this was a one time event... not every day or even twice!!!

Bikes are designed to perform correctly when hot. Two mins. is plenty of time to get up to proper temp. So , crank it up , idle for two mins , ease out the clutch and roll over to her witch's shack , then put down a ten foot long " Welcome to my world ! " burnout , right in front of her mailbox.

This thought did cross my mind but in the long run probably not the best choice for a peaceful neighborhood...

Ask her if you had a harley crapbox with pipes would she complain then?? some people like to complain about nothing.

GOOD DAY SIR!

EXACTLY! Tell that troll to go .... herself and to get out of your face. If shes bitching about that one time incident then shes a ..... anyways and who gives one .... what she thinks. God i hate people often..

Wow, old thread resurrected!

If it was the first or second time it happened, I think you should get a pass. If it was a habit, then I could see her point. Some people just like conflict though.

My neighbors are pretty cool about it. My Pani is new, so they haven't enjoyed that heavenly tune on a regular basis yet. But, they have heard my Harley with VH Bigshots, cam, head work and have never said anything. I try to be respectful since it is obnoxiously loud, so weekends it is after 8 or 9am.

I had a neighbor that clearly hated my bikes but never said anything. However, he reported me to the housing office for my grass being too high which generated a citation to my landlord. In return, I almost got evicted cause apparently it is a big deal. So your neighbors might not always say anything about the noise or what you ride, but they will find a way to f uck you deep in the arse.

If I leave real early for a ride I roll the bike out the garage and start it, then let it coast down the street in neutral (I live on a slightly downhill road) At the bottom where no one lives I sit for a minute to fully warm it up then go. I try to be friendly with my neighbors..

Wow! This was a while ago but I was thinking of this recently because I hear a few punk ... kids cars with the loud tuna can exhaust trolling around late at night...so I hope she gets her ..... ... up and chases them down the road complaining about the noise!!!

Min 20 secs (according to manual) and you can ride, 1 min max, just ride below 8k until fully warm.

I live in an area with neighbours living all around and they haven't complained once.

A Pani will never be as loud as a typical Harley. Sportbikes just have a bad rap and will always be complained about. That's the life we choose...oh well.

I own both and my Duke is just as loud (my fatboy has a Freedom Outlaw 2-1). Harley's over here (Oz) get more attention from the boys in blue.

All good points. I'm not trying to start a war with the neighbors either. That was the first time I ever started it on the weekend at 6:30am. Now I know and will try and be more conscious about it but I'm not going to quit riding to work because some one else doesn't like it. I'm not some punk kid out to give motorcycle riders a bad name.

I think your response here is the right one. I don't own a Ducati, but I do have a Ninja 1000 with a full Akro system. My driveway is right next to my neighbors bedroom. If I go out early, which I sometimes do, I don't start the bike until I'm ready to drive off right away.

I live in a townhouse and turn my bike off as soon as I get near the front. I then push it around back and into my house. Easy enough until I go to bring it back out, I have to push it up a hill to get it back out onto the street. Good thing the Pani is light! It sucks but I can't imagine turning it on and it echoing through out the neighborhood. So far so good and I haven't had any complaints.

I think that 06:30 is too early to let your bike idle for even one minute. If I'm leaving that early, I start it and leave. I had a KTM RC8R with full race exhaust that I started one afternoon for the first time in my driveway. My next door neighbor came running out because she thought her house was falling down. When she found out it was my bike, she started laughing.

Has anyone had a complaint from their neighbor about your bike idling in the driveway being too loud?

Saturday I had to run into work for little bit and it seemed like a great day to ride in with the sunny weather and no traffic. So at 6:30am I got my gear out, rolled the bike out and fired her up. Then finished my coffee, threw my jacket on turned around and there was a strange lady in my driveway...

She said that they work all week and my bike is too loud and to please start it and just leave. I said that I work too and am going there now. Sorry that I woke you, that was not my intention but I'm doing nothing wrong here. She walked away...

She lives across the street, two houses down. My bike was never rev'd and was idling less than 10 min.

Next time tell the strange lady that you will indeed take a picture of her on your panni :D

It is a little loud for a quiet neighborhood. I leave at 6:30 and I start her and idle out of the driveway and down the street for 30 secs

You couldn't get away with that here in the valley. It's triple digits by 10am LOL

I ride everyday to work. Fire my Pani up at 6:15am every morning. I don't let it idle hardly at all. When I leave I try to roll through the neighborhood until I get to the main road then all bets are off. But you apologized and she'll get over it.

+1 I idle my bike out even short shifting to stay quiet. Once out on main roads I go soft revs till shes up to temp. I have a neighbor w/a new ford 1/2 ton he put some sort of redneck exhaust and a remote starter. I dislike it, I'm sure others feel the same about my bike. If its a normal time I will let her idle 2min at most.

Sonic:rolleyes:

I'd tell her to go f#ck herself...
