on my way to the upmap

Help Support Ducati Forum:

Had the new map installed friday, and put about 500 miles on the bike over the weekend. My first opinion is it feels about the same. It may be a little smoother at lower RPM, but no large or small increase as others reported. Upper power band at 150mph+ feels the same. I dyno tested the bike last month so I have a base line and will test it again with the same dyno and will share the results here.

Got the new software installed today, ran out of gas after a 2 min run. My fault! Pretty embarrassing sitting on the side of a busy motorway/highway on a new Ducati! I can confirm the pani's reserve will go as far as 50kms ;)

Anyway pretty pleased, a little more low down tourqe, smoother gear changes and off the throttle, nice upgrade

so the up-map increase the fuel consumption from 30 mpg to 3mpg? lol:p, what a thirsty beast

I find myself gunning the throttle all the time, just to hear/feel the exhaust, and it is stock! I wouldn't dare be checking gas mileage, it would take some of the fun out of it :D

i do the same, kickinig back a gear or two when going into then tunnels

realistically, when i go on group ride and hit the sweeper/twisties agressively, the fuel light came on at 75-80 miles, so 30 mpg is still pretty good

Tunnels, that's right, we have one under a runway - I need to check that out! It is a small tank compared to my Beemer, it seems like that fuel light is always on...

Holy mother of God!!! I just got back from my upmap install. TOTALLY different animal!! I can't wipe the grin off my face!

I am bringing mine in in Sat. for servicing and they mentioned the up map so I am looking forward to the "after" ride. I noticed a big difference when I added the Termi's around 4 - 8 rpm.

I am also dealing with hard start issues after the bike has been hot. They are also fixing my horn and high beam since those have not worked since I got the bike.

Any hard start issues I had were corrected with the "Safety Recall" I brought it in for last month.

I grinned when the tech handed me the key back today and said, "Be careful, it's a different machine than when you brought it in (20 minutes earlier)."

I have TOTALLY enjoyed every minute of my Panigale, but my ride home was the first one that I could not stop grinning and laughing inside my helmet!

Love it!!

Does it make sense for those of us already got first service completed with no real reason to return to the dealership AND only a couple riding weeks left in the season....get the upmap done now or wait until April? How long would it take just for this?

It's a 5min job and TBH the updates will keep coming, as their are 5 or 6 modules that can be individually updated.

For sure there will be more in April :)

Yes, I'm sure there will be more updates in April, but this is such a quick update (did it while I waited, no more than 20 minutes), and it makes enough of a change it was worth the trip to the shop.

Wouldn't it be nice if you could simply plug your 1199 to a laptop and download the updates without the need to bring it to a Dealer? Isn't it the year 2012?

Hey guys, kind of a stupid question, but when you are talking about a new up map from the dealer, are you getting the current Termignoni up map installed on the base 1199 (without an actual Termi system) or is this a new map that Ducati just released to fix the rough fueling? My dealer said the latter wouldn't be here till next year. Either way, I badly need to get the fueling sorted on my bike.

Hi Gim,

The new maps are from Ducati, and they apply across the board for all variants of the 1199 whether they have Termis or not.
It also affects the quickshifter and ride by wire throttle operation.

Overall it is a very nice upgrade, and noticeably improves fuelling/rideability where it needed it.
I would say it is more linear in feel, and there are nice power improvements down low right through the midrange and on to the rev limit.

You will like it.

These have been available for about the last 3 weeks, and i should imagine that if you went to your dealer, as soon as they connect your bike to the internet through their DDS computer that it will be ready to update immediatly. Unless they dont have an internet connection to the workshop:)

Regards,
Brad

Yeah, I see what you're saying... But definitely some liability issues there.

I look at it this way -- my 2010 Honda CBR1000RR NEVER had any sort of "update." I'm really digging this with the Panigale.

AND... my Panigale has had more updates in the last 5 weeks (Safety Recall + upmap) than my iPhone! Had to chuckle when I thought of that.

Awesome Brad! Thanks a lot - I really appreciate the info. Looks like I better book at visit to my dealer next week! :)

There's a lot of really tight corners on my Sunday loop and I keep falling into that "hole" between 4-5K RPM. I will be ecstatic if the new map fixes it!
