on my way to the upmap

I'm having the new map installed tomorrow Saturday Nov. 23....aside from improving midrange, rev limit and quickshifter, will this new map solve my hard starting issues as well?

My hard starting issue is more of my concern though...

Is this a free upgrade or do you pay for it just out of interest? Makes no rel difference as it sounds gret nd just what I need to smooth out that 4000 rpm issue.

Free. As these bikes are under warranty, any map updates the factory develops during the warranty period should be free.

Ok, rode my bike with the new map and I think it made starting worse. Only had it a day, but my impressions are:

Much smoother and more precise throttle response
More midrange
Quickshifter performs much better now (smoother and quicker, less lurch)
Rough Idle (fuel light was on when I noticed this, so ???)
Bike stalled once at parking lot speeds
2 hard starts, followed by rough-running for 60-90 seconds

Overall it's a huge improvement, but the bike still does not like sub 20mph speeds and the hard-starting issue is still there.

My bike sounds different, too, now. I'm not sure if that's due to a new (stock) muffler or if some parameter was changed that's changed the tone. (My stock exhaust, after 10K miles, developed 'loose aluminum covers'. They apparently can't be tightened, either. Dealer replaced entire unit under warranty. I'm guessing this will be a common problem with all higher-mileage 1199s. (For those of you with Termis hold onto those stock cans--there will be a market for 'em!)

Is there a way to check on the dash that the up-map is installed ?
Does anyone have some information (codenumbers) on these upmaps so i can confirm at my dealer that i'll get the right map ?

Got the new map for my slip ons yesterday. 100% smoother throttle, defiantly not as choppy in the 4-5,000 rpm range, feels much more torquey in the midrange. Also noticed that my wet mode had a lot more power than before. I mean the difference was very noticeable. Exhaust sounds a little louder too, but that could just be my imagination.
Anyone else notice the extra power in wet mode?

got my new map for my stock zorst after moving down my upmap termigs slip on ?
the authorities locally 're clamping down hard on all illegal modification.
termigs from dp 're illegal, omg, lets not go there!
anyway got it , a few days already but can't seems to find the time to 've a ride ,anyway, first impression is,now i can blip the throttle for downshift which before seems to be non existence,i'm from the old school.u know.
2nd thing i realised is the rbw is very choppy/sensitive.especially @ low rev,its very abrupt.
can't seems to feels the low end pull as most of u mention but dun forget,i juzz switch from my slip on.
but 1 thing,i can confirm , its LOUDER !
luv it.
can't imagine my stock is more awesome than the termigs slip.

Ok, now that's three who've noticed it's louder (and deeper). I thought it was my new (stock) exhaust.

Wheelies are much easier to hold and control now, too--partially due to increased throttle control and partly due to the nice flat torque curve that was fairly peaky before.

I had the new map installed yesterday...I like the change...but it hasn't fixed my hot starting problem.

Do you still have the charcoal canister? Try detaching it. Prevents fuel vapors to return into the air fuel mix what makes it too rich...

I do still have the charcoal canister. What's the purpose of the canister? How do you detach it?

Is it true that the up-map lowers the top end ?
No big deal for street riding, rather have a smooth bike, but might be a note of interest for those who hit the circuit.

check here:

http://ducati1199.com/mechanical-technical/886-charcoal-emissions-canister.html

purpose is solely to reduce emissions from gas vapors, by "filtering" them. the filtered air goes into the airbox, where it is supposed to be combusted later on. if the fuel gets too warm, there is too much vapor , so the air fuel ratio gets too rich and makes the bike not start right.

I got mine back Saturday and it's definetly smoother and an easier ride. They ordered a new battery for the hot start issue and rewired the horn as it was always disconnecting.

Still back fires and generally makes a ton of noise on rapid deceleration, so it's smoother and still raw.....I love it!

Just FYI, the ECU tracks horn disconnections in the fault log - I had one. Ducati should be seeing these and maybe will fix.

The before and after dyno chart on my bike showed no change in peak horsepower.

Who has said the up-map lowers the top end and on what basis have they made this statement?
