surely you cant be serious. i know there are subtle differences which 99.9 % on this forum couldnt use or tell me how it makes a difference. all you r guys how many times have you adjusted the swing arm. better yet did you even know you could adjust the swing arm. I love this forum i really do i will have to post more than i do. get all your panties in a bunch cause the panigale is the 3rd best bike out. here have a tissue.

that being said i would have bought the R if it were out when i got the S because i love the tank

I have to lose 50lbs of fat before I notice difference with swing arm I think the R is a better bargain if you plan on buying terms wheels and carbon ... I am upset that its not numbered on the triple tree but the design in terms of tank and the subtle touches make the decision even better for the R .... I was sold on the s then the R came out which made me breathless .... But SL is a living room piece if I bought it I would be nervous all the time..... love my R I would do it 10x over if I could never rode a base or S but a lot of people say it feels different

Lmfao in terms of thanks I'm thanking every one of marks posts .... Ducati has fans ? Pssssttt mark is sooooo the new thing innnnn I will follow and thank mark !!!!! Will come to Staten Island for an autograph....

I am forever a mark419ny fan!!!!

I have mine set on -2 . I also like the titanium rods and the lightened flywheel it spins up quicker compared to my old bike . The extra rpm's are also a bonus found I can run the bike out just that little bit more on some corners without have to change .I also have more confidence I am not going to spit out a con rod .
I also like the fact I can change gearing and profiles of tyres and the bike will adjust to suit .

you race wilks so you know ducati is the first loser. oh i mean 10th loser cause it cant even come in second.

You see in my form of racing it's more about the rider than the bike .
I race a Pani because I like to ride a Ducati . I get to see real world differences between the BMW and Ducati other than what is written or a dyno graph will show .
You got to get past what you see WSBK teams doing . Bikes are made for ordinary Joes like you and me and what you can do with it .

...and what do you see??

...and what do you see??

I guess because my series is basically BMW S1000 's and Panigales and your racing guys at your level you can see where some bikes are going to dominate in some areas and lack in others .
On a long straight the BMW is hard to beat but time can be certainly made up in the corners on the Ducati if the bike is set up well .
Of course a lot depends on the rider but the Panigale is certainly better on a more technical track than a high speed track and we can see the difference from track to track .

Great info...Thx... Street "racing" I find the same...straights I have no hope..corners are better..

i will tell you first hand and i will have an hp4 shortly thus having both bikes. i will give a fair review and comparison. Just remember don't misconstrue what i say on here people. I ACTUALLY OWN work on ride and love my ducati 1199 panigale S. the difference here is i CAN AND DO state all the faults with ducati as a brand and the 1199 as a bike. you have to be crazy in my opinion to say this bike isn't flawed or is the best bike out. lets be serious the 1198 is a better bike and the engine and design is old now. hell if i bought say an r8 and it was a piece of .... you bet i would feel bad to say its a piece of ..... thats what is happening with the ducati. nobody except a few on here will say that the bike is MAJORLY flawed except a few. most of you on here know deep down the bike doesn't live up to what you thought it would be, especially if you had a previous model of ducati. you know it isn't the best or most economical choice far from it as a matter of fact. However the drones will defend till death. nothing wrong with loving your bike. it looks fantastic second to none. but admit its flawed. it was from day one and still is. those few that do state the obvious flaws and probems get chastised like a conservative on MSNBC. which means the conservative is more than likely right (correct).

Thanks! thats the kind of answer I was looking for. Did you finance it through Ducati or personal credit union? If through Ducati, what rate did you get?

I know this question was directed to another member, but I financed through my local credit union for 1.99% for both my S and R.

I guess I have many bikes and all of them have been flawed I just don't get caught up in it like you .
You will calm down after owning a few bikes and realise there isn't a perfect one out there .
If the bike is majorly flawed why don't you just sell it that's what I would do this is the part I don't get .

What is the major flaw ?

oh that post will be very very long on the flaws of MY particular bike. as i said many times 22k for mine and i will sell it. ill give you 2 quick ones.

who designs a bike (race bike no less) where you can't view your oil and you can't see your coolant level? how on earth does that happen seriously. the rest that has personally happened to me is way to long and tiresome to repeat.

That's it . That's not a major flaw .

no thats just 2 quick design flaws. do you really want the list of mine. i don't feel like listing them all.

here is another how do you design the lower fairing where it melts from the stock exhaust . another problem is how i have to call ducati NA to get the proper service from my stealership. they say no i call ducati NA and then they say oh we didn't understand right or you were right or we didn't know. the list is long but distinguished.

Seriously... The stealership, isn't Ducati.
Please sell your bike or stop whining.

It's fuckn nauseating

No I won,t have that, there is a place down in London that is much worse. Quote from the Major in Fawlty Towers.

You initially stated the Panigale (as in the design of the bike) is flawed, but now it seems you backpedaled to your specific bike. Do you believe all or most Panigale owners are experiencing the same issues? I'm curious because I'm thinking about making a purchase so I just lurk here from time to time to read what owners are saying. I understand it's common for an owner to state a particular make/model of car or bike is junk because they're frustrated with issues they experienced when they purchased one.

backpedaling no. the design of the bike was thought out fully half way. do i think the majority of people are experiencing the problems. YES i do. will the majority say its not a big deal of course cause they are kool aide drinkers.

here is a nice short list of what i feel are problems.

2 hours to change coolant which you cant see the level cause the window is opaque

2 hours to change the oil.

2 hours to change the wind screen.

melting lower left fairing

horn and signals not working above 200 degrees F

bolts flying off and not loctite from factory

heat issues.

pay 25 k for a bike you instantly need a new seat

clear coat paint failure.

most stealerships dont know about the service bulletins

fogging dash board which leaves water spots on the dash then ducati says thats normal.

original gearing is terrible so unless you get the R the 41 sprocket is an immediate upgrade.

best looking yet most expensive bike that does nothing better than the competition.

read this thread if you want a true opinion of this bike and not a kool aide drinking ducatisti

almost forgot you still cant legally get a shop manual from ducati on this bike yet they are available online if you need one

The succinct response to this is that not all of the frustrations you admit to are universally shared by all Panigale owners. This may not be the best bike for you, but for many others this bike is above and beyond the competition. You're showing your hand in making biased statements like the Panigale does nothing better than any of the competition. A five minute back to back ride can pretty much render that false.
