R Owners, how much did you pay for yours?

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

Here is a decent example of what this thread may/should have looked like if not for the trollish tampering antics, posted approximately three hours after the first post of this thread: R owners, how much did you pay for yours?...

Which do you feel is a) more enjoyable to read, b) more helpful to the OP, and c) a better representation of the Ducati ownership community? Do you believe that thread would have been either of those things if someone was permitted to intentionally derail the topic? The ignore option is a personal preference tool, it is not a moderator's solution for a public nuisance.

The ignore option is certainly an acceptable alternative. Absolutely it's your right to refuse to use the ignore option. We're adults here and up to you, Mark and I have spoken about this. He is by no means the only person doing the name calling etc.

This forum has done rather well since moderators were instituted here. We're very light in use of moderation as the bulk of members agreed light moderation was the desired standard back when we started. If at some point it appears the consensus of the active members is for more aggressive moderation we will certainly cross that bridge as needed.

This forum has weathered far worse instances of abuse (cough* frosty cough*) and still seems to struggle on.

I'll let the other mods chime in as they fit as I speak only for me and my interpretation of moderation as it has been here.

Absolutely I will step aside as moderator anytime the board members feel I'm not doing an adequate job. I think I could still manage to live with myself.

Zvez I forgot you were a moderator your a cool member to interact with I just never looked above your name to see if your a mod or not please don't step down this forum is great the way it is and thank you for your .02 cents pal !

I totally concur with Chris's post....When moderators were discussed on here prior to their appointment it was pretty clear that just about everybody wanted moderation in moderation..and that has certainly been my credo since day one...

There will always be times when members disagree about its level but pleasing everyone is just impossible.... The very liberal nature of this forum is one of its many attractions and a simple spat between a few guys is..whilst being less than meritorious for anyone involved..is not going to change my style...

steve! Steve! Steve! Steve !

The crowd shouts!!!!!!!!!!

last I'll say on the subject as I'll share the wealth with the other mods.

I do not get a general feeling from the overall board members that they want to change the level of moderation (ie more use of banning, etc). Until such time as that happens, this board will remain with the level of moderation it's had for a year or so. As mods we're not perfect, we don't see all and know all about all threads. That's why the "report post" tool is very important, as directs to a problem immediately. I have neither the time nor desire to inspect every message in every thread every day.

I respectfully suggest, if this is not to your liking, you could set up a poll in the forum asking about moderation, ie more/less.

I'll let STW, Phil and Xbox chime in as they see fit.

Stw and zvez,

I believe that in general many are indeed happy with the level of moderation of this forum; however, this is one instance where that doesn't necessarily seem to be the case. This is not an isolated incident involving only a few people. This has been an ongoing issue that is becoming progressively worse. I do not believe anyone is expecting any of the moderators to take time to go through each post, but I do believe that members expect moderators to act against persistent, intentional efforts to devalue the forum as you become aware of them.

This is not just about ignoring this behavior as that is simple enough to do without the assistance of a dedicated ignore feature; rather, this is about taking measures to preserve the quality of information within this forum for both current and future users. It is both a distraction and a deterrence to the productivity and helpfulness of this forum. If he wants to complain about certain issues and compliment another product, great! But do it in a dedicated thread where it is not a deterrence to unrelated discourse.

I think this is spot on. I don't think anyone can argue that it's progressed to the point where it's simply trolling. The reason forums ban trolls has everything to do with the fact that a forums quality is completely dependent on the quality of the discourse in each thread. When threads devolve time after time so does the forum as a whole.

I'm joining in to ask the mods to take a tougher stance on trolling and ban people that continue to do it.

Anyone that intentionally causes others stress for their own entertainment is practicing dysfunctional and antisocial behavior.

There has been a "mark"ed pattern of passive aggressive, sarcastic and generally escalating negative attention seeking behavior lately. It would seem that a firmer hand is needed in order to keep it in check.

May I suggest that the following simple solution that has been in use by the military with great success for years be implemented immediately.

After all, early detection enables the wise to take action before the problem grows and/or spreads through the practice of ignorance.

Please require the following form to be filled out and reviewed by the members BEFORE negative views are permitted on the forum:

As to the OP, sub 30K OTD with appropriate mileage, termi install included would temp me to sign the paper.

WOW WOW WOW. It is absolutely abhorrent that I had to read through all that nonsense and back and forth. I clicked on this thread to find out approx what price to pay for an R. Instead I read about opinions on Ducati vs BMW, mostly insults and opinions and generalizations. Can the moderator move off topic answers and conversations? I had to read 12 pages of utter crap to find any actual answers to the original question.

Anyone actually buy an R lately? If you would be kind enough to only respond with OTD prices paid on an R. Thank you very kindly.

Rockwell in upstate NY has a great deal on a new R with termis & radiator protectors already installed.....

You need to adjust your user settings so there will only be three pages of crap:rolleyes:

Haha, I totally forgot about this post. I found a dealership near me Cycles 128 who has a 2013 R on the floor. They are willing to sell $27,800 OTD. Because I told them about seacoast, and they want to earn my business. Another dealership in Derry NH: Seacoast sport cycles has a 2014 R for $30,999 MSRP but they are giving 10% in store credit so you get $3100 in store credit for parts and accessories.

That's what I found in my neck of the woods. I'm still saving for a large down payment on the R, but in the meantime I kinda want to see what "fixes" they have for 2015 R. If they have the .99% financing promo again, I'll pick one up tomorrow. :)

I hear you vast, I'm just saving up right now and waiting for the promotional .99% financing. I think it might come in April.
