I know that a few on here (including myself) purchased the tuneboy kit as part of the recent group buy. I just thought i'd start a new thread to get updates on views of how everyone is getting on.

I have not set mine up yet but am aiming to do so later this week using the maps that came on the CD.

Some things that were discussed earlier, and I am not sure if we got definitive answers. This is based on the fact TB is a re-map, not an upmap or piggyback map. I am trying to get these answered before I intstall it, as it is on its way now :)

  1. After intstalling the TB re-map, can you restore to what version of OEM that was originally on there (meaning current upmap you installed), or instead whatever map TB provdes as OEM.
  2. Can the dealer see that you have altered/replaced the OEM map?
  3. If you restore to OEM in 1 above, can they still determine you had installed TB?
  4. If the dealer does determine you have, will they immediately void your warranty, or only if there is an issue that could possibly be related to changes TB could have made?

This question is worth $64000... :) or rather the answer is I guess...

Has anyone had a warranty voided on a Pani yet? How about a 1098 or 1198? I have not heard of this happening. Maybe I haven't searched enough but seems like it's a rarity.

I am sure that somewhere I read that the tuneboy SW has an option to pull down and store you current map for re-uploading later if you were making a trip to the dealer. I did notice on the CD there is a standard map, I think its the 0205 version of code but I could be wrong. I have put a couple of similar questions out to the company via email but have not yet received a response which is not good...........i need to followup again. Hopefully Wayne will come on and weigh in on this.

My Tuneboy tune is going well. After extracting the extra HP on the second tune we ran into some problems with a hair trigger but today the guys smoothed it out again. My cruise control stopped working though, seems like sometimes it does this, not sure if its been overwritten or whether there's a bug. Basically this is a rip-roaring monster of a bike that makes the Beemer feel like a learner. The 41T sprocket and this extra power means when I glance down at the speedo I'm doing 30kph more than I thought I was!

I got mine today plus a nifty pack!

1. Yes it is easy enough to return to the factory firmware/map. It is included on the TB CD. At present it is based on the 205 factory map but a release of the 206 map for TB is imminent I am told. If you have installed the wide band sensors though it's more complicated as they are not compatible with the stock map out of the box. (I believe they could be used with a little bit of fiddling about but I have yet to prove that - I will post when I have.)

2. don't know. Prob best if someone with TB takes it to a friendly dealer and asks what they see ?

3. the ECU does contain a field that says when it was last flashed - I don't know if that gets altered during the Tuneboy reflash or if it can be manipulated during the process prob only Wayne can answer.

4. I'm sure it will depend highly on the dealer and your relationship but what I would expect in the main is that the dealer might record the observation. And in the event of a warranty claim leave it to Ducati to challenge the warranty on the basis of interference. That whole concept makes me mad - was any bike ever voided of it's warranty by changing it's carb jets ?!

Ooooh, goodies. Looking forward to your thoughts/experience. I know how they operate is different, but I'm looking at this and the Bazzaz. The Bazzaz being more transparent if I need to remove it (no direct flashing).

hope I get my bike back today and get it all prepped for Talladega gran prix on sunday.
time to smoke the beemers... :D - doin it anyway.

got a 2nd gorpo from a buddy as well.
yeeha

OK - so I decided to be brave and apply my tuneboy today. It was all very painless and exactly as per the instructions. The only question that was not clear was about trim files, the only one on the CD mentioned standard pipe (fine thats what i have) then mentioned only trim'd to 50% then said new bike. i'm not sure if that was a restricted trim for running in or something else. i've emailed TuneBoy with that as a question so will see what they come back with.

After the process was finished the bike was pretty hard to start the first time and spluttered a bit, but after a few revs went back to normal and then seemed OK.

Nothing blew up so i'm happy, won't get a chance to ride the bike until Monday to give some better feedback, but so far so good.......

Brave soul! It's like doing a brain transplant on one of your children to make them a bit smarter, when they are already Einstein level!! Where ddi you find the map, and what was it called?

Tell me about it, the first time i attempted i accidentally disconnected the usb during the upload and the bike turned on with a bike flashing "ENGINE" light across the dash, after a few choice words of panic, I tried again and all was well........phew.

When you install the app that comes with the kit, a folder of tune files is extracted to your PC to choose from in regards to standard tune, tune only, tune and cruise etc. I only found one trim file so i'm yet to find out what to do if you have a termi for instance.

Ok, when I click on Tuneboy, I just get a CF looking dash with a big white-faced tach, 4 colored indicators at the top, with no obvious way to upload/download maps??

Correct, you simply download your stock map, email it to tuneboy and they return it to you in a Tuneboy format so you can re-load it anytime.
