Results After TuneBoy Installs

Ok, when I click on Tuneboy, I just get a CF looking dash with a big white-faced tach, 4 colored indicators at the top, with no obvious way to upload/download maps??

Wrong app, there should be a shortcut for another one with Mitsubishi on the name, that's the one to load the tunes. Definitely follow the manual on the PDF step by step as there are a number of times you do the same thing

Tuneboy Tune Editor? When I look in the TuneBoy Tunes folder, 749 - 1198SP, no 1199 tunes. I'll look in the manual, but that's always the last thing I do :)

whoa, you got the wrong folder! I have multi, diavel and 1199 files in mine.
shoot me a PM with your email, I will send them over to you.

and - READ THE EFFIN MANUAL!!! :D

I had no manuals, one of the CDs was actually blank. When I try to download the manuals for TuneBoy from the site, I get "Oops! This link appears to be broken."

Yeah you have the older software there for previous models. For the 1199 you should have: "FlashMitsubishi" and "TuneBoyTrim"
There is 1 trim included and called "Panigale-StdTo40.trm" which developed on standard pipes up to 40% throttle. I run it on my tri with slips and it runs significantly smoother than the RACING up-map.
I'll PM you with link to the latest software.

Waiting.... ;)

I don't have these either. I got diavel, multi, 1199...
And within these cruise, tune, cruise and tune and standard maps.

Rode the bike today for the 1st time since applying the tune, man im impressed - the bike is SO much easier to live with at the bottom end, SO much better to ride around town - well worth every penny! This is how the bike should have ridden all along, this combined with the 41T rear sprocket and disconnect of the exhaust flap makes this bike feel pretty much perfect now!

One very slight oddity is the bike takes a little longer than before to return to normal idle after you lift off from the throttle. Not a bit deal just a change.

Only had a brief play with the cruise control, works as expected but a bit fiddy to engage - as the starter button is quite some reach from the throttle, so seems like a 2 handed thing.

If you have held off from isntalling or buying the kit, i'd say go ahead without hesitation - a great upgrade!

I was thinking about this post while out on a ride today and it might give the wrong impression. The "Panigale-StdTo40.trim" is a trim file which means it is applies a trim factor ON TOP of the current map weather that be the STANDARD map or RACING up-map, it does not replace it. So this trim applies an adjustment to throttle settings below 40% the rest of the map stays as per factory.

For completeness here are the results I posted to the other thread
from post #126
After 10 days of ...... weather round here I got my first chance for a short ride since installing the 'cruise and tune' map.
It was just a short commute into town but it showed that the fueling in this base map was the same as before the re-flash which is both expected and comforting.
But cruise is really really cool ! It's just really neat to bang the button and have someone(thing) else watching your speed for you. Really cool when you get that numb hand/wrist caused by not enough speed and you need to take a break to shake out the right hand. Really cool when you need both hands for a second to pull up the zip in your jacket or fasten your collar. Just made slow speed riding a whole lot nicer!
Snow rain and sleet forecast to sea level for the next few days so will have to wait again before I can test the new trims and the AFR logging.

As for the tuning I only have early impressions at this point but am very happy so far. The software update goes just like the instructions say. As per a previous post some patience is necessary. 2 uploads of the same file are necessary, 1st time seems to unlock the ecu, 2 time loads the firmware.
The base upload has no changes to the maps hence no change to performance. Map/performance changes are contained in trim files which can be loaded into ECU RAM memory for a single key on cycle, OR made permanent by applied them to an ECU firmware file and then red lashing the ECU with that file.

To date due to ...... weather round here I have only made one ride (balls out) with a trim loaded in memory. These are my impressions:

I took Pani for a quick blast yesterday and came away with a very positive impression, seemed a good deal cleaner down low, less fluffiness, warmer and more open and free revving if that makes sense. Torque curve feels better into the mid range and in low gears it feels like the twist grip is directly linked to the rear axle ie the more you twist the grip the more the front wheel twists into the sky!
On the whole I feel the bike is faster to ride and a little bit less 'animal'. A definite improvement to the racing up map even with the Termi slips.

I took coffee at the far end of my ride and the trim fell back to standard as I expected and the ride went back to standard fussiness confirming my impressions.

As for the bundled software, it's quite user friendly and I have the impression that it will yield results on a dyno quite efficiently. I think the real time fuelling adjustments are quite an advantage in this regard.

When I say "trim fell back to standard" is cos I had the trim loaded in RAM memory and had not yet written it to flash memory while I am testing. In this state the trim is lost when the key is switched off and is reloaded again with the PC. This is great for testing or taking a break during a Dyno session.

HP is right about the reach to the starter though, if am going to use CC I usually hold the twist grip with just fingers so I have my thumb clear for the reach over to the starter. It's pretty easy to upset the speed you want if you try to stretch it over.

What sort of map options do they have? ie If I have full Termis, is there a map for that XD? How exactly does this system work compared to the FI-Modules.

From what I gather there is no piggyback and this device simply flashes the stock ECU, correct?

Wayne has reverse engineered the original code in the Mitsi ECU and has been able to make some modifications. Primarily he has added cruise control and the ability to trim the ECU's fuel/ign tables in real time i.e while the bike is running. Two types of files are supplied with the system, the first Wayne call 'tunes' these are in fact the modified firmware files which are comprised of the factory firmware ( µChip codes), the TB modifications to it, and the factory fuel/ign maps. The 2nd type is called trim file, and it contains tables of adjustments to the factory fuel/ign/thr maps that correct for the 'personality' of your bike. A trim file can either be loaded real time into the ECU's volatile memory (lost at power-down) or applied to Tune file then flashed into the ECU's non-volatile memory. My package came with 4 tune files and 1 trim file.

I run the 'Cruise and Tuning' tune with the PanigaleStdTo40 trim applied and enjoy a much smoother and faster riding experience. I may get around to doing some Dyno work at some point and would post curves if I do, but I'm not really in a big hurry. If it feels better and is easier/faster to ride that means more to me than the numbers.

Are you running yours with the wideband sensor?

So would it be fair to say that it would be difficult for an average person with minimal tech knowledge to install and get this sucker running?
