Results After TuneBoy Installs

So would it be fair to say that it would be difficult for an average person with minimal tech knowledge to install and get this sucker running?

If you want to do the WideBand install yourself then you should be the type who is confident to change your own brake pads and spark plugs, I can't see anything much more than that as necessary. A couple of less common tools(as noted) are required.

On the software side it's as simple as following the instructions.

I got a blank CD too!!! What kind of crap is that? How do you send blank software discs?????

i think it's the way they burn them, the data should be there. I thought mine was blank or corrupted too but then tried a couple of times and it read OK. I was though using a MAC with a virtual win7 machine so thought it could have been that, I guess not. Try a few times and hopefully it will read.

Mine showed as blank too. Inside my pack was a yellow bit of paper that had a web link written on it, I downloaded directly from that with no problems.

i have installed the TB map cruise and tune, here are my impressions:

(have contacted tb also regarding the issues, no response yet)

- cruise control cannot be activated (no matter how long/short i press the starter button)

- bike runs like a bag of nuts in the lower rpm range

- upper rpm range seems to have a little more power

- roll on from low rpms leads to massive hickups compared to just a small dip with the ducati map (#6) (which ran great before)

- no instructions on the tune boy trim program ???

my conclusion so far:

not very impressed.

next steps:

wait for TB's response.
load the standard map (#5?), might even drive by the dealer to get (#6) loaded.

consider ditching another few hundred bucks into the WB kit - rather not at the moment...

somebody's got a good map to share???

Bummer....Hopefully just a temporary hiccup....

So with the exception of the cruise control, which works fine for me (but was set up by a tech) I also had the issues you describe - in fact I reckon you guys have the map that was originally developed first on Copiya's bike and then subsequently on mine.

I asked the guys to tune again and sort out the bottom end roughness you describe (it felt like bike could stall), which they did free of charge, also finding a lot more power, but they f****d the throttle response and the throttle just became an on/off switch, a scary thing with close to 200rwhp.

Don't get me wrong, if I was racing this thing I would be very happy bit for road use it's too raw.

The bike is in again to be sorted but if they can't fix it then I'm seriously considering selling the AR and putting my stocker headers and Termi slips back on.

I'm in the same boat as you guys. Shame as when I first installed the tune and trim the bike ran amazingly well - then I noticed the issue with the revs not dropping properly for a few seconds at a standstill.

Used the TB supplied standard tune (0205 based I think) that fixed the issue with revs not dropping but bike does not run as well as it did standard (with 0206 tune so im not surprised) - wish I could go back to me pre-TB installed tune :-(

Have a couple of mails out to TB, got lots of questions back about what settings I have on the bike, but no response or answer yet. If it doesn't get resolved soon i'll be asking for a full refund.

Looking at your issues 1|1:

* Yuh many seem to have emails outstanding at present. I get the impression Wayne is under some pressure at present and dealing with it by attending to technical matters rather than spending to emails. I have had my system a number of months now and his responsiveness was very much quicker prior to this last month. Couple of times when it really mattered I had responses with new software in less than 2hrs!

* I have had maybe 4-5 times when I pressed the starter to activate cruise and didn't get the confirmation throttle blip and assumed cruise was not activated however I later found that it was in fact activated was fully functional when I went to test it. The throttle blip is very short and I guess there may be the chance that a cold motor might fail to respond to it. It's always been more reliable when warm. That said there has been 1 time when it did completely refused to enable.

* I am guessing you loaded the Panigale_CruiseAndTune_Tune.dat file ? To date that file is based off the factory x205 tune and the ign /fuel maps (and throttle tables AKAIK) are UNCHANGED from factory. So you're bike SHOULD run just the same as before. I can confirm than mine did (there's a post somewhere back about that). If it's running different then the only way I can account for that is that you are now running open loop and the oxygen sensors currently have no effect nor I presume do the the adaptive parameter tables which are built up over time according to input from the oxygen sensors and have effect in the lower rpm ranges.

* Manual is available here http://tuneboy.com.au/Multistrada_Diavel_Panigale V2.0.pdf

Here is a link to the standard V0206 tune and latest FlashMitsubishi program
Please use the new FlashMitsubishi program included in the zip.

I will try to have the modified version with Cruise Control and tuning added here soon.

The problem with turning cruise control on can be a number of things.
1. Three seconds is a long time, try holding the button longer.
2. The throttle blip will not happen if the brakes are on, clutch pulled or bike moving. Many people sit on the bike with a finger on the front brake (to stop it moving) and wonder why the throttle blip does not happen.
Start the bike on sidestand and hold the start button for a long time.
3. If this does not result in a blip you should check that your brake light switch is not causing the brake to appear to be on all the time, look at your brake light and make sure it goes on when you pull the brakes.
I had one bike on the dyno that had rearsets, he had the rear brake light switch tied out of the way, this resulted in the brake light on all the time and no cruise control...
The CruisePreFlight program is included to allow you to check that the clutch and brake functions are being seen correctly.
I would love to see a post here telling us what the reason was for the failure to turn on the Cruise control.
If it was a problem with the Tune file it would be a problem for everyone not one or two bikes.
So often people complain on a forum and never add an update when the problem is worked out.

Over the last week I have been testing a Panigale with the latest version of the CruiseAndTuning map (based on V0206) and did not have any problems with the idle.
I did notice that the EBC value can make the ECU hold some throttle on when you back off the throttle.

The documentation is installed on the desktop, if you have a cluttered desktop you may not be seeing it.

I assume the bikes talked about here are 1199 not 1199R models, the map is different for the 1199R.

When you flash the ECU using the TuneBoy software the last flash date and the last dealer code are unchanged, this means your dealer will not know that you have flashed the ECU unless you tell them.
Hint: Don't tell them...

The new version of the tune files will support a strain gauge shifter, this will allow reverse pattern shifting and down shift blipper, it also speeds up the kill time as the long kill time is a complaint with the standard DQS.

Good tips on the cruise activation - Ill be very conscious about my process going forward...

So a post for clarification here. My tuners, ProTwin, have been helpful and generous with their time throughout this process and the fact that the bike is not running as i would like is not an inditement of their effort or expertise or the other good work they have done on the bike. I'm posting this to clear up any possible misunderstanding on this issue and I'm hopeful they will be able to rectify the issue.

Thanks Wayne just downloaded and installed the 0206 standard map, will advise tomorrow how it rides.

BTW anyone who has the 0205 standard map currently may have to add another tuned map first, then apply the 0206 std one - my bike wouldn't let me go from std to std!
