I’m eager to install a slipon onto my V4. I did not order the Akra so no UpMap. There really isn’t information anywhere except for at the 9:42 mark of THIS VIDEO

The idea is:
Complete the install. Start the bike and let it idle until the fans turn on, off then back on again. Then shut the bike off and let it cool down

I’m waiting for an email back from my trusted service writer who also owns a V4 and takes it to track days. I trust him, he’s been an excellent resource.

Do you agree this is the way to allow the ECU to learn how to deal with a more flowing exhaust & filter? Is this new for the V4?
What’s the process for older bikes like the 99s?

Slip on isnt going to change anything in regards to the bike needing more/less fuel or timing changes.
Already seen it on the dyno. Afr is still fine after just a slipon.

Thank you so much! I was getting nervous...
I am going to get some stock Dyno runs and then once the install is done, back to the Dyno.
The Zard comes with the ServoBuddy, so I won’t have any errors on the dash
How do u feel abt removing the evap canister like I did with my 1299 w/Akra? The evap can ruined that bike

Depends on your purpose...
For aesthetics I get it...
For tuning...unless you are going to do real tuning like ecu tuning (not a flash tune) then ok.
Otherwise IMO it's fine to leave.

Waiting on Woolich. Really just wanted to make sure it won’t ruin the bike without a tune, but now I am confident. It’s just a waiting game with the tuner, but stock... the bike gets the power down better than my buddy’s tuned H2, so I can say it’s faster off the line and through 2nd gear than a supercharged H2
I love this bike, it’s a stunner. Just have to make it sound the part without decreasing performance.

I appreciate you’re expertise

The other thread someone said an ecu package was released. Where it shows fuel tables etc..
That software is what you want.
Careful on woolich it locked a friends ECU and was a huge PIA to get unlocked. The boys that develop the software are out of Australia. Getting in touch wasnt easy.
After the locking fiasco I'd wouldnt touch woolich if it promised to rub my nuts.
The other software though sounds promising as it showed fuel tables by cylinder, timing by cylinder etc. This is expected and if you have a good tuner they will feel right at home seeing this.

Tell me abt your V4, what exhaust, tune etc?

The V4 is actually stock performance wise.
I may just go with a cored set of stock mufflers for a louder sound. I wouldn't spend $4K on an Akra system for 10 or so HP. IMO thats just a large cost per HP ratio to pay. While it sounds great just not for me.
Only thing I've done to the ducati is a new rear sprocket and bolts for looks

From Cali MotoTV,

He has the Arrow slip-on with the stock tune. Looks like it works for him.

This has always been a confusing topic for me because some people claim that with a slip on, no ECU tuning is necessary, while others claim a tune IS needed.

I can only offer my own experience:

I installed Termi slip ons onto my Monster with no ECU adjustments. I rode the bike. It felt fine. Soon, however, it began hesitating a bit with throttle. And on the highway, oil temperatures climbed to the maximum levels shown on the dash and I had to pull over to let the bike cool. Eventually the dash threw a lambda sensor code—an O2 sensor code, apparently.

I took it to the dealer who diagnosed it as running too lean with slip ons only. They claimed the ECU self adjusts but can only do so within a certain range... It was dumping in as much fuel as it was permitted to but it was still insufficient given how much the Termis flowed.

They said I needed a tune. They installed a Rexxer tune for my model bike. This was not a dynoed, custom tune but just the “canned” tune for a general Monster 696, which is what I chose because it was about 4x less expensive than a dynoed, custom tune.

The lambda sensor fault cleared, the bike rode much smoother throughout the rev range and stopped hiccuping.

That is my experience. Now, admittedly, this was on an older, simpler, air-cooled bike. Perhaps today’s bikes are tuned differently but if I were to change exhausts again on any Ducati I own, I would do so with the expectation that I may need a tune as well eventually.

Hope that helps.

I have the Akra slipon with the official upmap and Sprint filter. It’s pretty similar to the full system just missing the pipe work to the heads. It connects to the OEM pipes and the cats are removed so its more than just a couple of noisy end cans. The flow won’t be as perfect as the full system but based on dyno results it just a few bhp down on the full system. My opinion is that it’s more complicated than some slipon solutions as both of the cats are removed. With this in mind I wouldn’t be comfortable without a dyno session and remap first...

Kev, youve gone out and bought yourself one of the worlds finest superbikes of all time, any improvement on factory becomes a a very rapid case of diminishing returns.
I agree. Wiped the floor with my friends more powerful, very loud tuned bikes...

but I can’t have my beast wearing itself out prematurely from bad fueling

I'm installing my Arrow Slip-on Exhaust this weekend, and I have T800 but with no slip-on Upmap for the 2020 V4s. I'll have to run with the stock tune for the time being.

i ordered the termi upmap and the sc project. the guys at pit lane moto ran that upmap on their sc project and arrow works on the track at NCbike and said it ran just fine on their V4

Awesome! The arrows sound great on YouTube. Did u see the ARROW slipon instructions? I’m hoping to not have to loosen the rear header bolts for this project. My exhaust won’t be here till Wednesday. Snap some pix for me and keep us posted how it goes!
