You’re welcome. 👍 I wonder if Andy actually measures the runout on his tires so he avoids consulting the interwebs

To be honest, I wondered if you had abandoned Google in favour of Chat GPT. 🤷‍♂️ 🤪

Interesting that the bike comes with 200/60 but the ‘track pro’ DTC level is optimised for 200/65 Pirelli slicks.

I wouldn’t listen to someone that’s using them .. stick with Super Siri …

When I was talking recently to our Pirelli trackside support, he steered me to the TDs over SC3 slicks for the following reasons

- drop in replacement for OEM tires and don’t require any geo changes
- faster warm up (bc I don’t want to use warmers) and bigger temp range. Something about the carcass being softer than the slicks
- less chance of overheating
- compound is a special one (it’s not SC3). He said it’s like a SC2.5
- said that they were run at a recent Ducati event and said they performed well even when pushed by the MA pro riders

My understanding is:

hot temps - harder front, softer rear

cool temps - softer front, harder rear

if looking only at temperature, you want to use medium when its hot

Some people hate to try soft front as carcass is soft and it affects how bike turns.

They had to introduce a law here fairly recently that said cars must be at least two metres away when overtaking a bicycle because it was so dangerous for cyclists.

Don't tell me you're one of those white Karens who show up at the trackday with 40k Ducati in slicks and after first novice session runs to organizer complaining that someone overtook you too close on track

Ah interesting - thanks for the reference. I meant to referencie slicks in general - not v02’s specifically.

I’ve been advised that the general guidance was as I stated - as temp drops, you run a harder rear (counterintuitive - front is opposite) because pavement tends to be more abrasive when cool and less abrasive when warm.

Ok, I won’t tell you. My post that you quoted with your delightful response was simply stating a law introduced in the Czech Republic due to the number of drivers causing accidents with cyclists - it’s more about the standard of driving here.

I’ve not seen anyone doing that but your experience may differ. 🤷‍♂️

What do you mean by TDs? Are you referring to the DOT Supercorsa SC? The track-day tyre that’s road legal because it has some tread? If so then that’s the one I have been using.

Interesting if the SC3 compound in the DOT is not the same as the SC3 compound in the slick. Makes me wonder what the SC3 compound used in the SP is… 🫣

Don’t have to use it…. Have it added when you have the first service….

Could you clarify what you mean by “don’t have to use it”?

I thought it fully replaced the existing system and you then just have the dry (slick) or wet modes (losing street, race, etc).

If I move to slicks then I’d want it.
