Walfner from Brazil, Good morning folks, previously I use to have a 1299 ABS 2017, very fast and easy in curves; after 6 months on try and error adjustments I´m still struggling with my V4 , 3 seconds slower compared to my 1299, the 1299 was much quicker to change directions, dive in the corner and much more stable and reliable; I tried the same adjustments I´ve made on the 1299, placing the forks up by 4mm , low springs compression, midiun - hard compression and rebound but the V4 still very slow and hard to enter (dive) in to the corners, looking forward to hear any recommendation or tips. regards

24° rake kit

I have one listed in the classifieds

Flick it : )

Yea the factory bearings I wouldn’t run in a bicycle but are those Timken US or Timken Chinese Junk? Still better than the polished BBs they use in OEM but we cant have any more Chinese junk stateside. I apologize to anyone who is Chinese if this post is insensitive but damn, y’all can make a smelly turd smellier. No AllBalls

Well their mascot does wear Oakley’s and does have a orange mohawk

It is what it is

Oakley’s aren’t made in the OC anymore either : (

I would go back to the standard setting and work systematically from there, at present you are lost. The V4 is very flickable compared the 1299 straight out of the shop IMHO

Starting with the tires, condition, pressure etc. What's your weight, sounds a bit like you may be light and if so then springs may need to be replaced. Set your sag and go from there... Plenty of advice on here about it.

No way Mick he is right...

The 2” longer wheelbase and the extra 75 lbs make it way more flickable than any 99 will ever be

The 8 wings might have something to do w it too : )

Flickable, yea I’m out of this conversation I’m in the “gently leaning” crowd. Way past my pay grade. I’m better with wrenches than roads.

Geesh Paul what drugs are you on man? Yeah ridden both as well so your gonna tell me a bone stock V4 is gonna out flick a bine stock 99? How is that? Now shave off 80 lbs off a properly setup 99 now whats gonna happen there? Paul we are in the 20th century man not the 19th.

Laugh all you want, but I've ridden both and the V4 is definitely more flickable YMMV

I am not an expert or a racer, but the weight between the bikes is 7kg with about 29mm extra wheelbase. So not earth shattering differences. Now it may have been because I rode a base 99 and an S v4 so we get the light wheel effect. But to my seat of pants experience the 4 was way lighter and easy to turn.
My bike has had a few tweaks since then, light wheels and whatnot. it feels pretty dialed in for me and my style so perhaps it may be quite different now to compare. Anyway its splitting hairs, I saw a comparison on 44 teeth 916 vs V4 makes me love the 99 just a bit more.

You right about this Paul, old mate Walfner is lost, his making the the same changes he did on the 1299 but completely different chassis. Walfner needs to revert to stock set up.
