Stupid question for v4 owners

Just wondering what the official tire pressure recommendation is from ducati. I've got some sp v3's coming for my 1299 and wondering if they changed their pressure recommendation for them.

Sticker on V4 swingarm says 33 front 30 rear for single passenger.

Also, here's the page from V4 manual:

This is correct. I noticed that my dealer did not know this when I took delivery and I had to reduce the rear down from 38. Buyers should double check.

It totally depends on what you're using the bike for. Those tires have a huge range of acceptable pressures, starting with cold pressures around 24 rear, 29 front for track use up to 36 rear, 34 front for maximum load/mileage street touring. Lower pressures = more grip, higher pressures = more life / resistance to heavy load. I've always found about 29 rear, 32 front to be about right for general street/sport riding on the SP's. I even forgot to lower them on our demo V4S before riding it on the track a couple weeks ago and I never even noticed, the tires are that good.

Thanks guys. I know they can be used with a wide range of pressures. Was just trying to see if the "baseline" had changed at all. I always run higher than the recommended pressure on the street.

I've been running 36 front and 42 rear for a while on the street, ride somewhat aggressively, and have never felt any need to drop the pressure. My current set of sp v2's have about 4800 street miles and 1 trackday at a mid A level pace. The rear is down to the cords. I like to get my money's worth out of things.

I've been wondering about what is the best pressure for the rear with it being a different size to my 1299 etc.

I'm running my v4s in so not thrashing it but still using it properly, dropped the pressures to 30 psi cold front and rear. My rear tyre has started blistering a bit on the left hand side? Bike had 350 miles on the clock when this pic was taken.

:confused::confused:

Eh, that doesn't look too terrible bad. Maaaybe some early/light signs of cold tearing.

Spinning up the tire before it has a chance to fully heat up? Or slightly high on rear pressure.

Really depends on how you like to ride it and how much performance/longevity you want out of a tire. A perfect looking tire doesn't translate into the best performance necessarily, but may be better longevity..
