I have been contemplating buying a Panigale...So I took a test ride today.

Keep in mind my previous bikes for reference:
06' Suzuki Hayabusa
08' Suzuki B-King
10' Suzuki Hayabusa
13' Kawasaki Zx14R (now)

First time riding a twin. I've always owned the inline 4's, and big CC ones at that. I'm 6'2" and that's why I've generally stuck with the bigger bikes, but I have to say that the Ducati is much more comfortable than other liter bikes I've ridden. More legroom it seems.
The motor is definitely different from what I'm used to, but I liked it. It makes plenty of torque which impressed me. I noticed the inlines are much smoother at low speeds/rpm's. But I liked that aggressive nature, very mean personality...and I really love the sound!
The brakes were amazing (of course the bike is 200lbs lighter than my other bikes)...but nonetheless, very impressive.

The looks are what really attract me to the bike to be honest. The rest is just icing on the cake,ie...weight, handling, performance.

Not a big fan of the heated seat (guess I'll have to keep it moving)
I'll need to toughen up my wrists too it would appear.

All that being said, I've decided to sell the ZX14R and buy the Panigale.

Great decision. When you get it we'll meet halfway for a ride.

Just wait till you are at a location with other sport bikes and see people walk around them, then see yours, and stop and just stare at it and take pictures.

You will see. Its cool.

NOLA

You ll never go back to those heavy missiles... im 47 yo and had a zx14 09 and at that time i was sure to had the biggest and badesst bike untill i tryed an italian liter v-twin(aprilia rsv 1000r 07) after that one i got a rsv4 2012 and now a panigale s2014... got it in july and now im at 14000 km without NO problemes at all.

i did some days in the 1200+ km rides

the rsv4 was more comfy and more linear in the power band but the pure wildness of the pani and his good looks not to mention the little boys dream effect, makes this bike stand out in all acpect..

every time i look a it i have to pinch myself just to make sur im not dreaming and then i realise that this is MY bike!!!

Well said Claude. I share your feeling.

Congrats! Coming from a ZX11, I know where you are coming from. The 14 is a huge bike, certainly not the nimble Ninja of yore :) You can feel a twin in you gut, much more exciting to ride for sure!

Congrats. At least you didn't have to pay for that option (heated seat) and the wrist thing will go away soon enough.

Thanks guys! Appreciate all the great input.

This forum is great as well, so much more comradary here than with other bike forums.

A revelation, wait till it calls you from the garage ....and you sneak out at 5am so you can terrorise the Tarmac
Arrrg I miss that beautiful red perfect machine :(

Are you really getting something for the zxr14?? Have an R1 2006 myself and couldn't get rid of it. Pani is a beast. R1 is a spare for track now, but haven't ridden it anymore lol

I need to sell Kawi unfortunately. If it doesn't sell now, then I'll wait till Spring and buy the Panigale anyway.
Doesn't make sense to buy the Duc now and have both sit there for the winter.

As far as the ZX14R goes, I don't expect to make any money, just want to brake close to even and I'm fine with that. I suppose I could post it up here for sale but it's not really a bike most guys here would be looking for.
