Ive been doing a lot of street racing against multiple bikes. I have raced: Bored and stretched GSX-R 1000's with full pipes (Beat em off the line and caught them going into 5th if I let them jump off the line first doing a 3rd gear roll on), raced a bored out 1440cc Hayabusa with full exhaust and power commander (same result as the 1000's), raced 2009 ZX-10R with tons of new engine parts including valves, cams, high compression pistons, and full exhaust w/power commander, and all sorts of other stock bikes... Must have raced 15 different Hayabusa's since I got the bike about 2 weeks ago... This thing chewed them up rolling down the highway or from a dead stop to GO. The only bike that has beat mine so far was a Hayabusa stretched out and bored to 1520cc's with full Brock's exhaust and power commander said to have dynoed a 134 Rear wheel torque about a week ago, not sure what the HP was. From a 3rd gear roll on, I kept with him up through 3rd and into 4th, when we hit 5th he crawled away slowly and was no more than a few bike lengths ahead. Ive topped the bike out at 186 mph a few times now, gets there VERY easy and still keeps pulling hard but then hits the regulator -_-
So far that is the only bike that has been able to keep up with my Panigale, everything else gets left in the dust VERY quickly (Given I am a very light guy, only 130 lbs) This bike is most definitely amazing out on the street! Like I said... STUPID fast! Whoever said these bikes are no good or at top end was ...... wrong!

There won't be many Hayabusa lovers in a Ducati forum but I loved my Hayabusa. Best all around bike there is. I had an Gen 2 also with work done. Faster then I can describe and much easier to ride considering the weight. Makes bad riders look good as it is so damn easy to ride. However does take the sport out of sport riding. The Panigale will be more of a challenge.

Saw an Hayabusa yesterday. I thought it would be bigger.
I understand the design is a trade of beautiful versus aero efficiency, so it's ugly but react well at high speeds. Why not, but I got fed up with japanese bikes.
Don't get me wrong, I love Japan and can't recall all the times I got drunk in Tokyo, but Japan currently lacks innovation.

Well I'm glad your Panigale flies at the top end because mine doesn't! It is great from 8k and incredibly usable on the road but racing up Hailwood rise at the TT I was passed by a mate on an 08 Fireblade. It was purely on top end power but I was still surprised. Thought he must have had a run on me so conducted a few more tests and the Blade was quicker top end. The Duke nailed it everywhere else though.

Not so difficult when you live in Paris :p
Whenever i visit Paris, it's Busa's all over the place !!
You'll definatly stand out with a 1199 between all those ricecookers :D

I never see any. On one year, I saw Busas three time, the last two times being the same bike parked the same place.

Well like I said, no other bike has been able to touch me except the highly bored out and heavily modified Hayabusa (Now 1520cc). I raced a stock one yesterday that was an 09 and the Panigale smoked him out of the hole like he was standing still. The real power comes in at 8K rpm to 12K rpm, we did a 3rd gear roll on and we were going very slow, I knew I was gonna whoop him so I let him play his way... anyways, at the speed we were going (about 50 mph) I think I was at 5K rpm, he rolled on... I rolled on... I had the same amount of torque as him up to when I hit 8K rpm and then I was LONG gone. We have a couple people around here in Lansing that have a BMW S1000RR and I look forward to racing one to see how they compare. But the guy with the fast busa raced it and he said it was almost the same as when I raced against his. We'll see what happens, Ill put my GoPro on and put it up on Youtube when I do.

Where are you guys racing at? Dexter trail? A lot of it could be weight. 100lbs on a car is a 1/10 in the quarter mile as a rule of thumb

Whatever you do, dont post anything that could incriminate you on youtube, cops go over people over youtube video

We race all over. It varies. Mostly highway. I like to fly through back roads on my own time though.

Ok, take this as you will.
But here's the thing.
I own a 2010 Busa (carbon Yoshis the only mod) I know the bike very well, it's my 3rd Busa.
I have ridden (and ordered) a Panigale
Matter of fact I rode the Busa to my recent test-ride. Stepped off one, straight onto another.
There is NO DOUBT IN MY MIND that the Busa is quicker from a standing start to whatever speed you choose in a straight line. No doubt whatsoever.
I have no loyalties to either brand.
Throw in one single corner and the facts change completely. But in a straight line.
No way.
And that's coming from an OWNER of a Busa and someone that has ridden them both hard within the same 30 minutes.

Your milage may (obviously) vary. And I can't wait to trade my Busa for the Pani S if it ever arrives.

Just saying.

i heard now they come with a coffee machine adaptor ontop of the fuel tank. Plenty of room for it.

I thought that was only offered as an option on the B-King (RIP). ...and a few Hardley Movingsons.

Well that's one of the design aspects for the Busa in the first place was to run fast from a stop to go. As well as carry heavier people because they needed a larger cc engine to give them the same results as a 1000, course this was back in the day when 1000's were significantly slower, technology these days allows most 1000's to outrun Busa's even out on the drag. cough* cough* BMW S1000RR... Stock BMW vs stock Busa was proven by experts to have faster quarter mile times the past 2 years since they designed the bike. That being said, a guy the other day had an 09 Busa and said I wouldn't be able to beat him off the line, I had my traction control on 4 and engine in 195 High, and we raced off a street light. I let him go first, I wasn't even full on the throttle, just trying to keep the front wheel down even though I knew the traction control was working for me too but force of habit still because I drag race almost every weekend in the summer when I get the chance... anyways, I wasnt even full in the throttle and my front wheel was kicking up on me and I had him by a couple bike lengths... Just sayin. Times are definitely changing these days with the technology in these bikes. I'm not partial towards any bike brand either, I can tell people more than they know about their own bikes sometimes because I do my research, thats why I picked my Duc. I look forward to racing one out on the Drag. Stock Panigale with a normal rider, Hayabusa with professional rider in the videos.
Hayabusa: 10.448, 140.68 Mph
Panigale: 10.220, 145.81 Mph

Completely off topic I know, but I find this very interesting and its just another proof point that either journalists don't know what they're doing or on that day at that time their Pani was a dog. Over on this thread http://ducati1199.com/ducati-1199/1085-motorcycle-usa-shootout.html their Pani only ran 11.37 @ 139.7 mph in the 1/4 mile. That's over a second and 6mph slower than what was posted and recorded here.

i ran 7.2s and 107.79 mph yesterday. 1.95s for the 60 ft, so there's some potential. let's see if i find a 1/4 mile around here (and can improve my starting skills)

and get an extended swingarm - NOOOT ;)
