Tuneboy Discussion

I'm having a look at the trim files sent to me from tuneboy and it's got me curious...

the termi slip-on map seems to add quite a bit of fuel but all the A/F ratio graphs I've seen seem to indicate they run quite rich from the factory in the mid range....?

what trim files have people been loading first up that work ok for slip-on?

people that have had there bike mapped what was the result....add or take fuel around the mid range?

anyone know what the FM tune was created for?

thanks in advance.

Will load up my map for you and see what the numbers look like, however i am running a full system rather than a slip-on so not sure if they would be helpful?

would be interesting to compare your trim table to the one they have for the full system but don't think it'll be that good for mine with slip-ons.

i'll get to the dyno eventually....

I have the termi slipons and use the akra full system map and trim files and it feels better than the map for the termi slipons.

Try the akra map you won't regret it obviously it would be better to get a custom tune.

Just purchased mine, but cruise only since this bike is almost more than I can handle already. Any insight on how involved the installation is?

i'll more that likely do mine tonight, looks pretty easy going by the instructions....

My tuneboy stuff arrived in the mail today, will be fitting up the quickshifter and nudge buttons tomorrow and will try the akra map and see how it goes.

Installed my tune & cruise last night, start to finish took 25mins. (no nudge buttons or QS). I loaded the stick2 base map and the slip no db trim to start with.

Rode to work this morning, cruise works as advertised. Biggest noticeable difference to work was how much cooler the bike runs, max temp was 93 C at a set of lights, soon as you're going over 65-70km/h it was dropping down to 80-83, ambient temp was 22 C.

Am going to long way home in a few hours so we'll see what it's like.

cheers,

just got back from the hills, crap all over the road from storm last night so I didn't get a clean run....however enough to know where it's at.

that trim file is too rich for my bike, slight bog when your throttle leads acceleration, going to try a leaner trim file...maybe the db killers in file. edit...threw in the akro base map with akro2 trim file...much better but some of the heat is back(not surprising)

QS speed could be increased from the 10 set point...I'm going to try 7. edit again...no number for QS speed...just a bar:eek:

5k "dip" is more noticeable now that it was standard, seems to be right on 5k now while either side ok, pulls better from 6k.

bike definitely runs cooler:)

I finally got to Wayne's dyno and had my custom tune done. Took a long time and lots of runs but the graphs are improved from the baseline run that was done in September when everything was stock.

For this series of runs I fitted the new MWR model race filter and the Akra system. Final result 190.9 HP. The biggest improvements were in the torque around 5k to 6k. Some interesting comparisons with a graph of an untuned R model with super stock full termi and some SL engine pieces but with no tuning of the ECU except for plugging in the specific map for that exhaust ended up making less.

So pretty happy with the result. Also have the cruise control fitted. Cooling fan comes on earlier and QS timing adjusted down for shorter shifts. Bike went on the trailer so no ride impressions yet.

I tell you it was loud in that dyno room, double ear protection and my ears were still ringing.
Started at about 5pm and worked on it till midnight. Wayne really knows how these beasts work. I highly recommend giving tune boy a go.

Is there an adjustment for the fan?

When I took my bike on the highway I was playing with the QS in the upper RPM range. I had a couple of crappy shifts, where I was wondering if it had a tick longer it would have been flawless. Have you had any similar issues that made you want to lower it?

Never had an issue with the QS just making spirited rides around twisty roads, only when taking it to redline.

Yes there is. The fan will normally come on at 103 Celcius. The reason for this is that it allows evaporation of any water in the engine. Wayne changes this so that the fan comes on the first time at 103 C and then after 91 C. Every time you turn the engine off the cycle starts again. The fan can be set to come on at any setting using the tune boy software. If you wanted to could set the fan to come on at 80 C each time if you want.

No issues just the lag causes that forward pitching moment. You only notice it (in my case anyway) when you ride something that has a quicker shift. You can adjust it to where you want it.

It would be interesting to see the before and after graphs, both torque and power curves!

Is he doing this with the tune or trim files? I can't find any reference to changing fan settings with the trim program.

Sorry mate did not see your question. I do not know. I must admit I have not yet read all the material as it was all done for me at the dyno session. I just picked up the info from Wayne as he talked about things. I was lucky to be able to speak to him as he did things and he took the time to explain what he was doing and how it all worked. I must admit some of it went over my head.

Perhaps send them an email and ask. I am sure there is a way to do it.
