Is there an adjustment for the fan?

When I took my bike on the highway I was playing with the QS in the upper RPM range. I had a couple of crappy shifts, where I was wondering if it had a tick longer it would have been flawless. Have you had any similar issues that made you want to lower it?

Never had an issue with the QS just making spirited rides around twisty roads, only when taking it to redline.

I just got a response from Wayne/Emma regarding adjustment for the fan cut in temp and the short answer is that it is not end user adjustable!

About two weeks ago I went for a 400 km ride after Wayne (Mr Tuneboy) did a custom tune on my bike.

Since I took it for a baseline run back in September I fitted an Akra system, a 520/41 sprocket and the new MWR filter. When then spent many hours flattening out the torque line around 5000 rpm.

I did not notice much just fitting the Akra, but I certainly noticed the noise increase while riding. I have written a post about that previously.

Now however I have noticed a really noticeable increase in torque from about 4500 rpm. It starts around there and just pulls like a train. Very linear is how I would describe it. The quick shift has been adjusted about 50% quicker than it was and this is a great improvement.

I did notice a couple of times that I was looking for an extra gear when I was in sixth. I think this was because I rode in an area which was much more open and allowed much higher overall speeds than where I normally ride. This is obviously due to the gearing change I did.

I am really happy with the result. I know not everyone has access to a custom tune, but I am sure you can get close with the supplied maps.

One thing on the cruise control. I at first scoffed and was not going to pay for it, but now I am glad I did. It holds speed to the km and is a great opportunity to give your wrist a rest on longer trips.

I've just gone back to STD tune tonight for a bit of a retrospective comparison...will ride it tomorrow and see

I wish they found a way to make the high speed logging and auto tune work w/o having to add on two of the wideband O2 kits.

The stock Akrapovic tunes seem to all be directed at the full system. I'm running just the slip ons with the DB killers removed. I have no explanation as to which of the Akrapovic trim files really matches my setup. "It feels better" is very subjective.

No doubt the trims feel different than the STD, but I can't really articulate if its better or not. I will say that after dicking around with it quite a bit, I appreciate sport mode and the 195lo setting now, more than I used to. Once I did the throttle slop/spacer mod 195lo makes more sense. It feels just like it was intended, a slower relation to the movement of the throttle to the butterflies for the first 30% or so of its movement.

What the F*** is the "FCE" checkbox in the options page in the trim program? I can find no reference to it in the manual...

ok so I did about 160kms back in stock mapping (had akro base map & trim file in previous) this morning and come up with the following...these are all for MY BIKE may I add

smoothness of the engine about the same, to me my bike always seemed good anyhow

throttle modulation slightly better with tuneboy, i.e. a little touchier stock

0-5k rpm, not much between...mine always felt ok stock
5-7.5k rpm, tuneboy had the edge here
7.5k up....stock feels much more rapid, could be because tuneboy helped start the power earlier so feels like more of a hit standard

engine heat was fine today but that could've been temp/humidity of the day

and last of all....I sure as .... missed the cruise on the bit of boring riding I do to and from the mountain!!

Hi Brad,

Is it possible to post the settings for the quick shifter and blip/kill that Wayne recommended for the cruise control. I can't get answer out of them for love nor money.

Cheers

He adjusted the setting for the QS from standard which if I recall is 100ms down to half that. He did it and slid the adjustment bar halfway down if you know what I mean.

I saw him on 12 Jan and Emma told me they were going on holidays so that could be a reason he has not answered you.

I am not sure what you mean by "recommended for the cruise control." I don,t actually have any copy of my own maps. He loaded 3 into the bike. He is going to send me copies. I have all the equipment but have not needed to load anything as it was all done for me.

Send me a PM if I have not answered what you are looking for cheers

did you fit a strain gauge shifter...I think that's what he's wanting to setup

No I just use the clutch. I do not have the clutch less down shift option.

When I get a chance I will scan my dyno charts and post up.

another day and another map change....

"Stick2" map with "1199r TermiFull noDBkillers" trim file. I went this way because it looks leaner than the slip-on trim.

This map suits my bike! Smooth is the best description, every bit improved compared to std...no down sides for my bike and this combo, will be leaving this one in until I get the bike tuned proper. :D

I might try the "stick2" and termi slipon no DB killer trim when I get it back from the dealership.

Right now I'm running factory ceramic coated headers & pipes, akrapovic slip-on with the DB killers removed.

In hindsight I wish I would have gotten the wideband O2 kit(s) with the Tuneboy to take the guess work out of it.

The Panigale maps that end with Stick1 are for standard exhaust.

Maps that end with Stick2 are for slip on.

Maps that end with Stick3 are for the full system.

Maps ending with Akrapovic are for the full Akrapovic exhaust.

Then you need to load the trim file as well.

I have termi slipons on my bike and i use the akra maps it seems these have a better baseline maps as the trim files contain small adjustments, besides the seat of the pants feel is much much better.

i think there are others here that prefer the akra maps as well.

Wayne has built in most of the fuel changes into the akro map, that's why the trim files have smaller adjustments. He has not added fuel trim to the termi maps hence larger trims, and yes, akro feels better to me also than the "slip-on" setup. I might go back to it next weekend to reference it to the one I liked today, however the bike felt better today than any combo so far. Another thing I might try is removing the ignition advance in the akro trim....and maybe add some advance in the termi trim...or I should just stop fuggin about and get to the dyno:p

Is this documented somewhere? The naming is horrible if that is the case. Thanks for the info.

I received this from EMMA last year. I think it's also in the updated documentation as well. I'll check again.

I'm well aware of the naming convention and loading trim files. I think you missed the point of my post.

So I was wondering, if I just wanted the cruise control feature and keep my 899 up-map slip on map, that is possible?

Also is anyone else using BSD race switches? I assume it should work...

Thanks

Yes you can do cruise only.
