Wow! They actually pulled it off! This is great news!

How on Earth did they pull it off and make it Euro 4 compliant? Wonder if they had to do some compromises elsewhere...

I guess mainly with stock exhaust and some software.
With the race-kit, it is not euro 4 anymore.

I know a guy here in Belgium that ordered one and will use it as a daily-commuter :D
why not.. ;)

Wait a minute! Even with wet clutch, with the race akrapovic it won't be road legal anymore. It's about emissions and noise! However clutch affects more the noise than emissions (to the best of my knowledge).

So the question is how the f did they pull it off with standard exhaust? The standard one was already boarder legal line in terms of sound. What is it 92 db? 95db? for the V4 with standard exhaust? The dry clutch would easily bump that by 5 db.

No, not 5 dB.....you realize on a base 10 logarithmic scale......just how much 5 dB actually is... in linear times as a multiplier.....

The dry clutch is only noisy if your take the cover off or install a open cover. As long as the stock cover or similar is on the dry clutch would not be a issue.

Funny I'd consider the same as a daily. I'm just a bit curious if there will be the required refresh kit after x amount of miles. Anyone know?

IIRC one of the tests they do is a drive by decibel reading . even the sound of the air going through the intake adds quite a bit of exposure to audible noise.
If you've never noticed there is a ton of mechanical noise on the ducati's, and a covered dry clutch is slightly louder than a wet clutch . but IMO the ducati has a ton of mechanical noise compared to the japanese bikes. this may be due to the desmodromic valve design - possibly the difference in metallurgy ,maybe both.

edit:
sorry I was referring to DOT on the drive by reading Not track day noise checkpoints

Ducati's always sounded lower... Jap's are more like screamers.

It is very rare that I see a Ducati with aftermarket exhaust black flagged for noise, while the standard Fireblade is most of the times not even allowed to start!

Of course, they were V2's...

@pump fake: at the presentation at EICMA, Ducati claimed the V4R will have the same service intervals as the V4, which is 24000km. However, when I check the Ducati website now, it says 12000km (roughly 7500 miles). Which, to me, still seems exceptional! My Suzuki is every 6000km and my BMW every 10000km.

I will see the bike live this afternoon at the NY motorcycle show, I will ask questions and try to get as much information from the Ducati reps as possible...Not sure they will know more than we already know, unfortunately I usually know as much or more about the bike im buying then the sales rep....Im so looking forward till this spring to race mY R in CCS/ASRA and WERA...

So, just saw Ducati Instagram post... "V4R features dry clutch" I wonder if it's standard...

the V4 service is 12.000 km. the 24.000 kms it ´s for the valve clearance.
