The v4 22/23 electronics are def better than my 19 V4R, but not night and day better.

The most notable change is the 80Nm spring on the shock.
22 or 23?

and given we are all different the 80 spring went out the window straight away!

The numbered edition seems like a cash-in.. not sure how many will be made either.
£40k or a fraction under, plus, what, £6k for the exhaust and EVO 3? That's a big investment... think I will stick with my lovely ex andyb 2020 bike.
The question now, is whether the demand will outstrip the supply for the V4R

Ooh hello

yeah, definitely a last minute shuffle minor update on 19 V4R 🤷‍♂️

Nah. The last minute shuffle was bc of marketing. BMW upstaged them w the new M1000RR, which had more significant updates especially when it comes to aero. Gigi is probably losing sleep with BMW one-upping them in this dept.

This 2023 V4R has been in the pipeline for at least a year. Production lead times are at least 6 months for the new engine bits (conrods, pistons, cam, and clutch). Then testing. And then you have to factor in the a couple months for marketing to make this video.

This was a last minute shuffle, they shelved an entirely new bike for a minor update of 19 V4R for multiple reasons: supply chain issues, euro 5, Bautista about to win championship and 23 contract, price cap etc.
is what it is. 24 will debut full new V4 range including R

When has Ducati ever released an R in the same year as a new model?

You are wrong on all points above, also they don't give a one .... about BMW.

I was thinking that too. If they did shelve a new R last minute, they had better hope this package remains competitive for another two years if they follow their traditional route of releasing the R one year after the new generation base and S bikes (i.e., 2025).

Typically, you don’t have a “backup” variant waiting in the wings just in case your next model doesn’t meet the deadline. And logistically you can’t scrounge together a significantly upgraded motor in 5 days 😉 I mean if you have inside info from Ducati Corse I’d love to hear it

Why does the pic of the V4R that just posted on Ducati's website have wires sticking out of the tops of the front forks?!

Just so you know, this bike that came out today has:
+A druidi livery done in a day
+A different swing arm pivot setting stock (same options as previous)
+Rear shock comes with way lighter spring + 20mm taller
+New electronics (same as 23 base V4)
+Barely new fairings
+Sort of a new tank

So this "back up variant" can wait in any wings, at any time

this year was going to be all new R before the base and S - which has never happened
Marketing would kill you if you did that. There’s no progression in the model line when you do that? What manufacturer has ever released the top-tier model AND THEN the other models. It would be like Porsche releasing the GT3 RS and then releasing the base 911 model. It’s a let down rather than a build up.

You forgot about all the engine stuff. There’s multiple teams coordinating the development and launch of one of these bikes. These things don’t just get slapped together overnight.
