V4s won't start - brand new

Help Support Ducati Forum:

The battery is not dead since I was using car battery, and the car started as usual after I've put it back.

I cleaned top 4, removed only 1 lower injector it looked clean, removing others is impossible without removing throttle bodies.

Charging lithium battery ATM, hope it will crank afterwards, otherwise I've created another issue , don't even understand how.

Checked for blown fuses, all good.

I'm frustrated

Could something have come loose or shorted while checking the map sensors?
Well as I mentioned above while checking voltage on MAP sensors lines bike was shutting down and restarting few times, does it look like something being shorted?

It sounds like an electrical problem. Moving wires around, checking pins and voltages maybe something just shorted or there's a loose connector. Its hard to say without being there or inspecting it myself. I would think if the bike is turned on while you are checking pins and it randomly starts turning off then on, when it wasn't doing that before, my first guess would be a low battery.

Sometimes its better to call it a night, have a drink and go at it tomorrow.

So , yesterday's multimeter check added another problem, bike doesn't react to start button, starter doesn't crank.

Furthermore, one of the wires I assumed is ground yesterday, is starter solenoid {facepalm}, I only cleaned it and put it back.

So how many ground points are there on a bike, I only located one on the left side of the engine by the evap canister...

Any ideas what happened?

Also , just found that loose end hose... anyone knows where does it go?

Its one of the blow by hoses. You are looking at the top of hose number 20 in the following diagram, which you can see the other end of which attaches to the engine near the clutch cover in the second diagram.

It's a 2018 v4s, recalls performed 1 year ago, bike has only 400 miles...
At this point I have very little confidence at dealers work, will go there tomorrow , pressure then to show me actual spark on plugs, and maybe try to start it with injector cleaner sprayed into airbox

This doesn’t add up. Almost seems like someone swapped a dash or bricked an ECU. I’ve often wondered if people track bikes for 3000 miles and swap out ECUs and dashes before reselling.

That's the only pic I have as of right now, I will be picking it up from dealer tomorrow so I'll make more photos from all sides.

I understand what hose you are talking about

And that has 400 miles?! I don’t think so.

Since he had the bike at a dealer, I don't know about the ECU and dash being swapped, or what difference that would even make. It absolutely looks like some backyard mechanic stuff was going on and the wiring going to the ECU plug makes me think someone was in there probing connections.

He wrote a few pages back that it was probably stolen and recovered and bought from an insurance auction. My guess is someone was trying to bypass the immobilizer system.

No, I took one out when tank was connected, pressed start button, nothing coming out.
Also connected tester bulb to the injector wiring, it's not flashing

I wonder if the shop would swap the ECU out with another bike they have on the floor. They’d obviously have to set it up with that bike. But the fact that it’s sending a start signal to the starter motor however no spray lends me to believe something nefarious is going on with the ECU you have.
