Somewhat bitter-sweet. The bike was such an animal. I loved the looks and performance however riding it just became too much of a discomfort. I know, I know... I've heard it all from my riding buddies.

If I had enough cash for 3 bikes then for sure the Pani would still be in the stable but I only want to have 2 bikes. One for wifey and one for me. With that I wanted a bike I could do a 500 mile weekend on and not feel paralyzed for days following it. I needed something more upright and, for fucksake, less hot. lol. I simply couldn't justify the fun ratio anymore.

So now I start the adventure touring era. The new machine should arrive any day. Triumph Tiger 800 XCA. Bags, heated seats, heated grips, cruise control, ridiculously nice suspension. My new mini-van. Yes, I went from dead sexy to ugly duckling in one swoop.

I'll be posting up my sportbike riding gear in the next couple of weeks. AGV Carbon Pista GP helmet, RS Taichi jacket, etc.

Let the hate begin. lol.

Sorry to hear this my man! However, I too will soon be trying to find a rich guy with no ceiling on his checkbook to pick up a MINT heavily modified 1199s Tri with only like 1100 miles on it! hahaha.

One thing for sure, I won't be posting it up for sale here with all those who want everything for nothing! LMAO. And those who know me, and the bike are well aware how meticulous I am about EVERYTHING and how much i put into it (Yeah yeah I know the comeback line to that one "You'll never get back what you put into it for Mods Gunny!" But this one will go as is, since I sold most of the stock parts and will not be returning it back to stock. Anyway, enough of me.

Sounds like you have the best of both worlds for yourself there w that Comfort-Cycle with all those bells & whistles buddy! Makes riding much more luxurious no doubt! And one for two up riding makes the wife happy so definitely keep that one!

Again, sorry you let it go and I completely understand that bittersweet feeling! I often regret letting my LE Corse go sometimes too - still overwhelmed with how much torque that had over the Tri- regardless of who many teeth one goes up on a rear sprocket ya know? Stay safe and stealthy out there and hopefully part of the forum still too brother! After all, Ducati is a way of life, that remains in ones blood FOREVER - bike or not my friend! ;)

i agree the 1199 doesn't do everything well, like sitting in traffic, commuting. But given the right circumstances, it's just pure bliss.

This is exactly it. The right circumstance, a few minutes of pure bliss, for where I live, is hours away. Otherwise its commuter duty. I knew this going into it but I just was a little blurry-eyed at the prospect of owning such an incredible machine. I certainly don't regret my experience with the Pani. I bleed Ducati red. For what its worth I did shed a small tear when I dropped it off. Just time to try something new.

Nice fake smile...lol! I say do what's best for you and if the Pani ain't it then so be it. Who gives 2 ..... about what others think as long as your happy,so no hate here. Good luck with the new Triumph as I hope it treats you well.

Hope they give you a decent deal.
I have been doing 500 mile plus weekends on mine.
At the age of 63 it is not an easy task but riding it frequently helps the muscles
adapt to the riding position.
This bike likes to eat up mountain roads and gives me a huge smile while riding on the race track.
I'm keeping mine for a few more years until I'm getting too old for it. :D

I took a test ride on a S1000XR, thinking that it would be a better bike for distance, and found it to be not as fast as I was led to believe by the media. It's not slow, but it's too heavy and as we all know, light bikes are fun bikes. when I got back on the 1199 it felt like a rocket ship! I didn't like the feeling of being sat on the bike, like a cherry on a bun, that the XR gave me either. I presume a GSA is much the same, but I've yet to ride one.

I've managed 400 miles in one go on the 1199 and the only soreness was from the constant wind blast and from throwing it around all day, but that's not specific to the bike. Any bike will make you ache somewhere after a few hours.

I feel ya, my favorite bike to ride is still my V11 Sport Balibio, but when I need that big shot of cocaine in my arm, I fire up the 1199 and rip it up. Yes it's un comfortable ect ect BUT what a thrill, it never gets old.

i hear you on the heat, the other day i went for a ride for a couple hours and the air temp in the 90s and heat coming off was almost unbearable....but i'm keeping her and starting up with night riding.
