Im a small business owner. I was told to close my doors while big box stores could stay open. I was told their people are essential. But I am not. They can take their essential and shove it up their ....... ...!

Luckily our gracious governor, Cuomo, lifted a lot of the restrictions on the construction industry and we went back to work. I lost 2 of my best employees to this mess. 1 couldnt deal w the publics bs anymore and another wanted out of NY because of lockdowns.

I have had a record year because of covid but its nearly killing me because of the lack of help and record demand. We are still giving ppl $300 on top of regular unemployment until Sept 5 in NY. No one wants to work let alone use their hands instead of fingerbanging a keyboard.

Its caused my friends to lose their businesses because they cant find help. This is 100% our gov fault.

Let’s just say I’ve been to where the undersea cables come in and where the major nodes of the internet are……gobbling up data.

I agree with you on education, but education that is focused on academics and how to get our kids (our future ) ready to be useful members of society and not person who is waiting for government handout to the point that they have no intention of looking for a job. Also education which will teach out kids about real history and not how to be ashamed era of their grand,grand parents and their race, also education that will not cater to certain political party...

thanks for taking the time to reply, so much gets lost in translation in comments. I will come back to you on this when I have time to consider it, but what I will say is that the liberal left are as repulsive as the authoritarian right. In fact I dislike them more as a political group because of the fake intellectualism and superiority. Both the left and the right have abandoned the working man, and in our country at least the dream of having a better life than your parents is almost out the door for the average guy.

Fellas, everything is relevant to an individual situation. While I sympathize with people going through unfortunate situations, the reality at leas in this country is that you are largely responsible for the outcome of your situation. I own a few business and they are all strategic for different reasons. One of the businesses that we own is a food mfg company. Our main contracts are the Federal Government (DOD, FEMA etc) and Pharma. I hate the food industry and I'm not particularly fond of the outlets however I did understand very early on in life that if you cant beat them, join them. We are having record years and we have long term contracts. I will have built and sold this company before the contracts run out. The income from that company runs the "non essential" business which revolve around bikes,aviation and real estate but are essentually, monkey business.
The point is, I set myself up to be bulletproof no matter what. I aligned myself with too "big to fail" customers and supply chains. If I have a problem, everyone has a problem and the troops do what needs to be done to fix my problems. I built a business that I don't have a passion for because the outcome was "good business". I'm currently building a very high tech "off the grid" house. I fly my own plane so I am largely not dependent on air travel, I don't have children, and when the tax man comes calling, its a wash, I just charge the government more money. So instead of complaining about the evil empire, I use it to my advantage. Whats the point?

This is America. You have a choice. You have glaring examples of what to do and what not to. Ultimately, you choose your path and if it sucks, you blame others. Its your path, own it. I left home at 16 and never looked back. I had zero parental support. I made a shitload of poor decisions and I own all of them. Americans who chose a more wise path are sick of hearing the belly aching of those who didn't. They are sick of working smart to subsidize those who didn't. The middle class is a proving ground. You have the choice up going up or down but you are going somewhere I assure you. Up, takes something most Americans are not willing to do and that is put forth effort. Entrepreneurs do things institutional workers don't have the stomach for. If you are an institutional worker, you are a slave to whatever system you signed up for. Don't like it, ....... do something about is but don't expect you boss to give up his country club membership.

I have zero religious affiliation. Zero political affiliation and I could care less if you used to be John and now you're Jane. Obama, great, Bush, great, Trump, great, doesn't matter. Its all a .... show. Doesn't effect me or my family. This chat board is really my only down time where i can be a complete ...... and detach so I say a lot of offensive, .... that pisses people off. Sorry but we don't all have to get along. We don't all deserve the same things and in many cases, segregation is a goo thing. This is a situation that unfortunately, is a ...... one and I’m sure there are many similar. In the Navy, they gave us reserve chutes in case the main canopy fails and water egress skills and survival tools should the situation arise.

That’s long term strategic planning. Most people don’t do that. Covid really showed how dismal the strategic planning was for the average American.

The more you can do to limit your reliability on others the better off you are. I try and engineer failure points in every step of the process and make sure I have a contingency plan. I make sure I have strategic partners who have a lot of skin in the game who will ensure my success.

When bike parts started drying up instead of sniveling about it we made our own (Mick) and I invested in a machine/automation shop who builds our food machines so I could make anything I wanted. Cradle to grave. People are inherently unreliable. Get them invested in something and that improves considerably.

Ever hear of plan B when the .... hits the blades. .... plan B. I have a plan out to Q. Today, it’s necessary. Hopelessness and despair are hallmarks of a confidence issue as is the inability to pivot from the comfort zone.
Confidence comes from doing and taking risks.
If my country gets to the point of making the lifestyle I want difficult, I’m an expat on the next plane without batting an eyelash.

“Useless class” LOL we’re there now. 61% of Americans paid no Fed income taxes last year. Most Americans are broke and in debt and the ones that do have jobs don’t like them and see no future and no relief from the day to day dead end grind. Guess what, their fault.

There used to be a saying “survival of the fittest” and it’s returning.

The facts are simple. We have too many people who don’t contribute .... and that number is growing and the gov has no idea what to do so they will just pay them to exist. But that won’t last for long then what? Nothing is forever. What separated the guy with the foresight to understand that his profession could go away some day and did some planning from the guy that didn’t? Effort.

I don’t participate in SciFi. Never seen Star Wars and I don’t read fiction. Not interested in Ai but I am vested in it. It’s good business and I am devoting 1hr a day to learning Ai platforms.

The food machine I created replaces 15 humans so I get it. My favorite time period was the 30s-50s. That coolness isn’t ever coming ack so you adapt. We definitely need a reset. This mess needs to go.

We’ll that’s the problem, minimum wage back in my day was for high school kids working part time jobs. If you were making minimum wage at 25, you ...... up somewhere. Today I hear “how am I supposed to support me and my two kids on $15.00 an hour?” WTF are you doing having kids before you had your .... straight financially. 15 to flip burgers?

I’ll flip my own burgers or eat 5* and enjoy the service. A gaggle of uneducated, unskilled, unruly, unqualified ..... buckets. What a .... fest.

Additionally and I’m not at all being conceded, sarcastic or pompous but personally, as an adult male in the United States of unlimited potential America if I wasn’t making a base of mid six figures when I hit 30 I’d take 2 rounds to the skull. There are kids, “KIDS” under 10 on YouTube making 7 figures and a metric .... ton of no skill, no talent adult goofs on YouTube making 7 figures. No excuses. Someone didn’t work hard or smart enough and they didn’t get it done. So figure it out but seriously, how long do they plan on living off other peoples money?

Exactly not every one can have a 6+ figure salary. Causes hyper inflation if everyone could, like what was seen in the mining boom house prices tripled at a minimum in areas.
