Thought I would bump this thread
My first bike was the DarmahSD 78 new, then a 900ss, 916, SPS and 996R and to say I am a crazy Ducatisti is probably true as I have never ridden any other road bike except a Ducati .
Now I am waiting for my 1199 Tricolore and this will be my last.....lol

Well my first Ducati lasted 400 km total , 2011 848 EVO and i was so disappointed from day 1 , i tried to like it but it had to go i couldn't put up with it any longer and wasn't prepared to spend the money on it to get it to handle and still have such poor power
picked up 2011 RSV4 factory and what a bike 1000 times better than the Ducati , i love Ducati's but only ever rode or tested pure race bikes and was expecting the same feeling from the street bike but it wasn't to be so its gone :-}}

I have no doubt you are right. But haven ridden pretty much every model from 75, I know them inside out and to me they are just like part of my family.....as I said I am just a crazy Ducatisti and like you love them as well

One of the last 888's to role of the line, purchased new by me in March 1993 ..... geeez, that sounds like a long time ago!

first Ducati i rode was a 851 in around 1990-1991 i think it was built by Bob Brown in Austraila i was helping test it , he had developed his on computer system for it so did need the chips off ducati Raymond R tested it and said it was faster than his WSBK , but it didn't handle very well because of the power it made , we where getting there and it was feeling better but it spat a rod out of the case and destroyed a 10,000 dollar ignition . that was the last time i rode it awesome piece of kit for the time

same here, 1199 will be my 1st Panigale, as the 2nd bike, my first was 10'CBR1000RR, i had it for 9 months and put 6k mls on it until traded it in a put down the deposit for the 1199
