WhitePani down & out again- Oil leak

Good luck with the R man that would be a sick upgrade. I just picked up my HP4 tonight. I'm blown away by it, it would run circles around the 1199 IMO. The DDC is fantastic I felt like I was riding on air when cruising and firmed up when I pushed it. The stock seat is REALLY comfy not like the ....... .... seat we got on the panigale. Really out of this world. My GF feels the same about the front end..yeah its not the greatest looking from the front but man the competition with all the CF goodies, WOW when your looking at it in person. I can see a lot of dust on my panigale in the near future lol. My only gripe is you'd think they could spring for some HIDs on the thing, it is 26k.

If your that unhappy man I wouldn't rule it out especially since your considering the R and the price tag that has.

I found a STEAL on an R. DP Rearsets, Carbon Plate mount, DP Levers, at a pretty decent price (in my opinion). As long as this deal goes through, and I get a deposit on it, i'll share more. I never considered an R because new I'd be looking (with upgrades) around $37,000 after taxes. which is just insane for my budget.

Riding an R on the street seems like it would be very uncomfortable from what I've read. Not trying to be a spokesman here but I was coming back from the dealer last night, got a bit chilly so I hit the heated grips button on the beemer. That was nice LOL. Not sure if you've got another bike to ride but I've come to find that ducati's are not everyday bikes, unless of course your getting a multi or something. I agree though I'm really surprised lemon law hasn't kicked in for you, but either way I'd get rid of it and don't look back at this point.

My base model was leaking the exact same way. Brought it to the dealer and there replacing the head gasket and also replacing the rear hugger due to its melting. not gonna lie i wanted to burn it as well cuz i would get .... from friends for spending so much on a new bike that leaks like a harley. But i love the bike and dealer was awesome for hooking up the warranty issues. I'll always own a Ducati now..

The 1199's are very, very prone to the oil leaking from what I'm seeing. I guess we'll have to suck it up to own this beautiful bike.
Ride safe

Some have had it....not sure if I would agree its a common or endemic issue...

I took mine in for an early annual service. Its a little under a year old and not yet 12,000K's.Low oil and change clutch and brake fluids.

After letting me know, they'd fix the cylinders leaking oil,all done under warranty, they had the bike from Friday til mid Monday.

I had zero complaints with all that!

It's not the head gasket, only the valve cover.

2012 Base. Just started to get an oil leak on the vertical cylinder as well.

More junk by Ducati.

I reckon if you only knew this before you bought it, there would most likely be something else in the garage instead.

Doesn't seem to be issues on the 2014 R models. Mech at bike shop did admit the early models had issues but most seem to have disappeared ... Supposedly

Never a problem with my 2012. Many hard days in the southeast heat and no leaks/problems to date.

Disagree

My bike is at the dealer for the vertical cylinder leaking oil as well they are replacing the covers or gasket covers they say its not a big issue to longevity or mechanical just sadddd that 30,000 dollars quality still isn't up to par
