That recent post on the V4S being 2s off the GP bikes, was the track damp? Always brings things closer together. And makes the bike that Ducati actually sell, look pretty good

It said slightly damp but come on man

Jonathan Rea’s best is 138 1/4 there

The race lap record is 139 n change

143 on slightly damp track?

on a stock street bike?

Super sick : )

There's the bike comparisons that usually drive a lot of branding congecture without taking into account the pilot. Same guy, same hour, doing laps on different bikes with same familiarity is getting a little more like a real comparison. But this one, taking from some top racers, ok I'll take it. It's getting onto a more fair comparison.

Ya, that little bit there is a huge factor. Porosity in AL casting necessitates much larger wall thickness adding weight and randomness in wear. Hand made from billet AL is on another planet of goodness for those parts. Then it all adds up to more control over weight distribution etc.

...
The main difference between motogp engine and road engine is pneumatic valves and the crankcases are milled from billet not cast. ...

Born against very good, Propagandhi split 10” with I spy was good but after that kinda ......

Agreed. With the exception of a few songs here and there, everything after “Less Talk...” is no good. I have this deep spot in my heart for Prop - was my first punk rock show in 94/95. They got naked during their set.

Agreed. A stock v4 being 2 seconds off a Moto gp bike in a heads up comparison??

I don’t buy it.

Don’t get me wrong - I’m sure Ducati’s ceo is an unbiased source. ;)

Yeah the CEO Claudio he is all over the map and has run the show into the ground indefinetely.

.... this is the only thread on here that Don has not brought back to life right up your

That’s almost a sucked up stripper!

What would happen to lap times if ya threw one of those on the back of a moto GP bike?

That’s not even considering how much of the weight is stuff that spins : )

Hey KarlKani, great to find this post! I started modding my new V4 R last December and seems like I’m using a lot of the same parts!

Have you ever got the thumb brake mounted? I got the same triple and thumb brake and am wondering how to make the thumb brake work. Searched around on the forum and found one guy attempted on a V4 and gave up: Thumb rear brake for a v4

yeah I am not sure if I am goign to end up using it. My kit came with the fork + bar mount - but if it jams up the left side too much I might not bother with it

+1 on the horns.
Why would you prefer thumb breaking? Better reach or also precision, or? Have you tried it yet?
I haven't been super intrigued by it, though curious.

I was not going to post on this thread anymore but in the spirit of what this place is all about here is an update. Bike is should be done next week, might be doing laps as soon as the 4-10/11 - weather dependent.

Loads of small hurdles as one would expect with this much change. I will give brief desc incase anyone else is looking to do any of this - if you are PM me for more detailed info
-Billet corse rears brackets - will not work with standard R swingarm pivot
-Temp sensor fitment issue on cooling line of H20 Galletto Rad
-BSD left hand button pod will not work with I2M Chrome Pro 2, subsequently I2M left hand but pod not exactly P&P as described
-BDS ti axle has some fitment issues with wheel spacer
-Evol tech billet brake carrier will not work with Akra - left hand silencer has contact with chainline
