**WinterMode** V4R Race Bike Project

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

My vote is to keep it going. One of the reasons I signed up for this board was to see how people have improved their bikes and to learn about these bikes. This winter project you have is pretty cool to follow.

For sure keep it going
One of the few good threads on the forum right now!

Some forums have an “ignore” feature. If this one does, you can put someone on ignore and you won’t even see their posts.

Agree 100%
Mick just apply this and go ahead document your build! I myself and many others here want to learn and just appreciate what others are able to do in hopes some day we can do it ourselves!

That’s the only way I feel this forum would start getting traction on the right direction and get better!

Your shop is bitchin!

I’m so jealous : (

Sorry you ran into so many issues and great job on the build

That bike is bad ass!

Definitely keep the updates coming. Thanks so much for sharing the hurdles you find. Those pieces of info are gold for guys trying to build up bikes. Racing is already a money fire and learning from others helps keep some cash for the tire fund. Please keep sharing what works and what doesn’t with the rest of us. Thanks again.

I was not going to post on this thread anymore but in the spirit of what this place is all about here is an update. Bike is should be done next week, might be doing laps as soon as the 4-10/11 - weather dependent.

Loads of small hurdles as one would expect with this much change. I will give brief desc incase anyone else is looking to do any of this - if you are PM me for more detailed info
-Billet corse rears brackets - will not work with standard R swingarm pivot
-Temp sensor fitment issue on cooling line of H20 Galletto Rad
-BSD left hand button pod will not work with I2M Chrome Pro 2, subsequently I2M left hand but pod not exactly P&P as described
-BDS ti axle has some fitment issues with wheel spacer
-Evol tech billet brake carrier will not work with Akra - left hand silencer has contact with chainline

What a build!!!
What was the solution for the BDS axle? I ordered one and should be here any day. Wondering what I need to do to get it on.

The BDS rear ti axle will drop right in the only issues that can possibly be a problem which I had ran into early on was on the wheel side the large wheel will not go on far enough to install the safety clip. I had to machine .015-.020 off the face of Podium ti cone nut but if you use another vendor or stock cone might be ok.

The particular issue is a slight tolerance deviation in the newer axles where the diameter of the axle (wheel side) is just a hare large not allowing the cone to slide easily in place. It is more of a press fit and can be driven in place with the nut but would be a bit difficult to remove. Solution as was stated is to take a small pass at the ID of the cone. It’s so slight you could do it with abrasive paper. Not a big deal

Stock axle measures 48.88. BDS measures 49.03. Also for you guys running these things make sure you use a proper anti seize compound on the bearing surfaces. Ti doesn’t fair well against hardened steed and the load side of the axle (flange side) will at some point start to wear from contact with the hardened steel bearing race. Keep an eye on it if you put a lot of miles on it.

My bds axle bolted right up, but I am using an aella cone. Endodoc is right, I ran my axle only last track season and noticed some wear on the axle when I pulled it this winter.
