I agree its the OP's wish and right to do what he feels like.. when people see that paint scheme they will for sure think it to be an SL cos that color is unique to that bike.
If I was getting an SL, I would do what the OP is doing for the sole purpose of not using the carbon fiber fairing cos it would be really time consuming to replace that in case of damage even if it is covered by insurance due to the way Ducati handle part replacements..
