Wrapping my 1199 to Superleggera

The biggest hurdle it seems is to find a neon orange wrap. Avery Dennison has one, but their sales dept here in Thailand don't want to talk to me :-(

I'm a big fan of "doing your own thing" and you are certainly knocking off one type of bike. Another thought would be do something totally original like we've seen from Scott K. and others, which also look pretty awesome......all of this coming from someone who went from a Base to a Tri. Cheers!

Did I not post a pic earlier on how I want it done? Well here it is again, won't be SL.

Lol.. why would you do this?

I get the point about trying to look more expensive etc... but the people that know Ducatis will call you a poser and the people that dont know bikes will just think it's another Ducati. The only remaining person is you and you know it's a standard grade 1199... now do you really like that paint scheme or are you just doing it because.. it makes you look richer??

Read the effing posts in the thread. Look at the above picture, does that look like a SL to you??

Sorry if everyone in this thread hurt your feelings about copying the SL paint scheme... you seem frustrated. I understand.

The above does look nice.. post pics when it's done. Good luck

no.

painting or imitating a color scheme is something else than putting on the "Superleggerra" sticker...

how does one distinguish a base from an SL:
-wheels
-exhaust
-number plate
-1199 SUPERLEGGERRA on the sides...
(just a few items for beginners)

you're not James Bond by just wearing a tux... ;)

His bike and his free will to do whatever the hell he wants to his bike. Nothing wrong with having a different look than what you're bike originally looks like. Not a single person here has the right to criticize the mans decision to do what he chooses to do with his bike. Opinions are like ............everyone has them. Some of us (including myself) have the R decal kits on our bikes. If that makes someone a poser, there's a lot of guilty members in here. Grant it, I don't think any of us with the decal kit have the R Next to the Panigale 1199 decal but still.

Anyway, that white and orange-ish/red looks awesome. I'd slap some white wheels on it to go with the look and call it a day.

OP, as long as you're happy with the end result (when it's all said n done) no one elses opinion matters. Good luck with your project.

I love the look of the 2014 WSBK scheme, why I'm gonna be doing mine in it soon, once replacement fuel tank arrives(mine badly dented)

This is what It will look like when painted.

Now if you already have a red 899/1199, you could just buy the graphics kit and throw it on, get the lowers painted in black and your done.

As I said previously, your bike do as you please. But for gods sake do NOT put superleggera badging on the bike.

Carbovani makes the Tri fairings in carbon fiber and they offer the option of just saying "1199 Panigale" and not "S."

Your bike will look great with SL wrap. When people ask, I'd be straightforward and say its a wrap job.

Hello people!
Tell me what you think; I'm planning on wrapping my 1199 so it looks like a 1199 Superleggera. Also changing to March rims, some more carbon, remove mirrors etc. The wrapping company has the exact color, and they can do it in 3-4 days.

But could the Ducati dealer be pissed off when I show up there to buy something or for service? That I made my "standard" 1199 look like their flagship bike? Would they see it as negative publicity for the real SL?

Thanks for any input.

trade your 1199 for the SL - you'll be happier, and in the end will probably cost less:) (i know thats not true (about cost), but just felt like saying it)

Do whatever you want bud but it looks like to me Michael Jackson black gets white :)

I just finished mine. Here is a before and after

Never been a Fan of making my prized possession looking like a Poser/Replica

If I liked that SL so much, I should do better in life and save more money and buy the real thing..

But that's just me...of course you are free to do what you like..

It will look great, until an enthusiasts or someone very familiar with the bike figures out its simply a replica ... kinda like putting M Badge and body parts on a regular 3/5/6 series..
