New to the forum guys but not a new Ducati owner. Recently picked up a Panigale R (MY16) and I removed the exhaust flapper cable and motor from the bike....opened the flap up but didn't remove. I have a load of questions:

1. Has anyone used Woolich Racing Tuner and what were your thoughts? Did you go with the Widebands and is that necessary?

2. Has anyone gutted the Akrapovic Exhaust Race Baffles (Non-Race)?

3. Did your Panigale R have lag in power delivery and kick-in, to what would seem like normal, at 6.5k-8k RPM range?

4. Best mods you have done and don't regret.

Thank you very much fellow Duc Owners.

Welcome to the board so yeah I am currently running a 16R as well as the Woolrich stuff great tuning platform and lots of support from them. I never gutted the stock exhaust just installed the Akro race full system. Got no lag or delivery in the power. The widebands are only needed if your going to be logging your own data and doing your own maps.

I called my Akrapovic rep and he said I can't touch them....they have to be bought from Ducati...at a smooth $4k?!?!!?!!?! wtf....he said they come with the up map. I literally just want the cans...know anyone selling them?

Woolich

Thank you for the information by the way, did you see an improvement with doing the Woolich Racing stuff? Were you experiencing some choppy and delayed power below 6k RPM....I feel it is due to me keeping that flapper wide open 24/7 and if I just disable that, o2 sensors, pair, and other items that this thing will spring to life with some added fuel percentage.

The stock map on the bike is crap best thing you can do as a start is load one of the Woolrich maps off there forum I actually started that way and you don't need the wideband stuff installed. It will run way better then stock and smoothen all the choppiness out and run smoother.

If you are looking at the Woolich setup without the wide band option, you are limited to the 1199 as the last time I looked, there was only one map for the Panigale on the shared format which was the 1199R. Additionally, you are confined to what is on that map which was laid down by whoever wrote it and posted it. Woolich does not provide modified maps direct. The Woolich platform without the wide band option allows you to do 4 things
1 Allows you to view maps
2 allows you to modify shift points
3 allows you to delete in the ECU the deceleration fuel cut, exhaust valve, pair sec/air and the EVAP valve. You can also diable the stock O2 sensors.
4 allows you to make changes to a map and reload it into your ECU provided you have a reference for the changes (dyno)

Without a dyno, you will not be doing any dynamic tuning with the Woolich without the wide bands so essentially without the wide bands its a software program to load a pre configured map, delete some pesky plugs and look at stuff. With the wide bands you can do logged, adaptive tuning to effortlessly build optimized maps to fit your riding style. Its pretty nice. I am on the 7th iteration of my initial base map which was a Bren map with some ignition mods.I still have a few more logged sessions to complete before the final map will be done based on the target values for the build. Just my 2 cents, if you want a shared (canned)map, there are a host of solutions. If you want to learn about tuning and want to optimize your platform, get the wide bands, learn the system and the nomenclature. You will have a much better platform when you are finished.

Great info man. Talking to Anthony, he is telling me that it can't shut off the maintenance light!? With that being said, have you compared or used the Tuneboy setup? They run the mapping straight from the narrowband readouts and it can clear the maintenance light. Any insight on this would be great....I am literally seconds away from pulling the trigger on this. I have my fabricator/welder on staff building the Y Pipe and I am gutting the cans out...Literally creating the $4200 Race can setup for about $200.

I actually don't know much of anything about tuning "hands on". I am fairly well versed on how everything works, what it means and where things should be based on the data. Fortunately, there are some great guys including one on this board helping with the projects. Tuneboy. I know it and understand it but have zero experience with it. There are a few guys on this board who are a wealth of knowledge with regard to that platform. Maintenance codes. I do not believe Woolich addresses that area. I use the Bren box for that and prior to that, I used the Melco to do it.

If they are the Race can that are unrestricted then I am interested....otherwise I am going to cut the stock cans and my fabricator is going to make the Y Pipe out of Titanium. Far cheaper.

I will check...I may have the Akra's If you wanted them-

For those that have used the Woolich wideband O2, did you cap off your narrowband O2 and weld the new bung in a different spot? Did you use an adapter? Or did you mill the current one?

I learnt the hard way . The supplied bungs are titanium, my pipes were stainless. Oops .

I moved the bungs to the upright location for better readings as per the instructions.

On the Akra pipe, there are no mods necessary as the stock O2s use a reducer. What pipe are you using? (Material)? Do you have the correct bungs (material) for the pipe (material) and lastly you will need a competent welder. I believe one of our members had a shop melt his Termi pipe not identifying the composition of the pipe before they decided to weld dissimilar metals. If all the above has been sorted I would put them in the same spot providing the engineering is sound.

Yeah, currently I have the Titanium pipes that come on the 2016 Panigale R, I have yet to frog around with it as I will this weekend, so that would be great if they have a reducer on them.... otherwise I have a welder who is a pro with titanium, he is fabricating me the exact same Y-Pipe that Ducati charges you a mortgage payment for.

Its the same exact fitting that would be on the stock 15/16 R headers as the full Akra race system no modifications needed the Woolrich wide bands will bolt right up.

Has anyone got any feedback from Woolich on ignition map stuff? I will check with them see if got anything new. Just re wired everything on my harnesses also finally put a micro switch outside the tail so I can turn off the log box so it doesn't rob battery power so will be logging some new maps tomorrow.

Post up a picture of your switch , I just disconnect mine .
Did you check Map Share ?

loaded a few under 1299S which are pretty good

I will load up a picture tomorrow morning so yeah nothing in map share on ignition maps.

Not sure if this is a good idea or bad idea , what about opening the tuneBoy ignition Maps and having a look . I've been wondering if that possible .
Could always get woolich autotune but it's expensive.
