I know they're trying to help but it seems like some are nailing him to the cross. I'm just trying to do the same to our fellow members and remind them they're wasting their time :)

...its their time to "waste"....;)

This thread has been rather entertaining and when it comes down to it, I don't see the big deal with this bike, I think my tricolore is better looking than the SL anyway

Personally, there are quite a few member bikes here that are likely to be better, then the SL.

Think Jarel's track 1199 would give it a run for it's money in terms of goodies.

Ok then . Which bits ? Tungsten crank titanium rods magnesium monocoque carbon fibre sub frame magnesium wheels and advanced electronics .
Pretty hard to trump that bit of kit with some bolt on's .

The crank only uses tungsten inserts for balance. Tungsten is actually quite heavy.

acowsik - A heavily depreciating toy should not be financed. You'd then be losing double sided (interest and depreciation) on top of maintenance, significantly raising the cost per mileage. No amount of temporary fame or acceptance is worth it, or even a penny in this case. It's just simply not a wise choice, however you cut it.

You only live once. But life does not end tomorrow.

Oh excuse me. I thought I was checking into the 1199 forum but I seem to have been mistaken.

This is some site for financial planning advice. I assume all the experts giving advice are licensed to give all that good advice about money, knowing your particular financial circumstances as they do.

Jokes aside if we were putting financial sense into the equation could any of us except the really wealthy afford a 1199 ? Nitrouz I think you may have left out IMHO at the end of your quote.

If I had the spare cash I would buy one.

Am I the only one who thinks this guy is a phony? Maybe craigslist reincarnated?? Seems like they could be one in the same. Maybe I'm just sill paranoid :-/

Because no 2014 R's (or any 1199) are available. Who the hell is this guy saying hes had a 2014 model since like two months ago? Whats that smell? oh yeah, fish

In New Zealand all new bikes imported new after September are classed as the following years model and are usually the same as the following years model with any design changes etc, not doubting anyone however this is how you can differentiate when buying a second hand bike sometimes, this also applies to dirt bikes here, they have the year stamped on the rims so easier to clarify this info. I think if this guy actually buys one its his choice, I would if I could justify the expense, I bought a base purely because I liked the simplicity of the suspension and that the bike is literally the same as its slightly more expensive brothers/sisters. So go for it, if you want it I say.
