Price probably dictates a certain level of "exclusivity".. but being the ultimate poser 1199 I am sure they will sell... Cannot wait to see one outside Starbucks...:)

Unless made in jest, I don't understand the poser comments. Posing is dictated by the way an owner uses a bike and is not something that could be directly attributed to the bike itself. If the assumption is that anyone who can afford the bike wouldn't have the skill or desire to actually ride it then I'd have to disagree.

If I saw one outside of Starbucks I would say "poser".... This is a track machine...

Just a thought, after or intra ride, a coffee is just what I need. Starbucks or not! Well, unless there is a sugarfree Red Bull avalible.

While I get the inference, it is very unwise to judge a persons "Poser" status by his caffiene beverage presence :p espicialy since the coffee trade is dominates by Starbucks.

Also, I see some value in the following:

Chicks like coffee-> I like the Ladys -> Chicks go to SB because it is there ->
I stop in for refreshment and potential Ladys -> Some chicks like bikes -> Coffee makes chicks who like bikes want to talk to owners of said bikes = Digits

Boy I like the digits!

Yes it is better suited to the track, but then why even give it a plate hanger and signals?

I love my Pani and the SL is simply more powerful, significantly lighter and with better suspension.

So its my Pani, just faster lighter and tighter with the same (actually more) adjustabillity. Why not ride it on the street? I ride my slower, heaver and less well suspended Pani on the street and its awesome, witch makes the prospect of the SL on the street awesome+!

As for starbucks, they have a stranglehold and who cares whee you get your refreshment.

No one is or isnt a poser till you look at the tires and if you ride letter to letter thaen you are not, anything less it is up for debate.

Well to a certain extent I am using Starbucks as a euphemism for anywhere a rider goes just to park and gloat... But My point is that this is a track machine and is probably going to be awful on the street...

very much agreed the SL will be in its element on the track, but that wouldent stop me!

Using any bike for the sole purpose of parking and gloating would most certainly qualify. I'm sure the Panigale SL, like any Panigale, can make a fine street bike.

Not sure about that....and what a waste...

I'd encourage any sportbike owner to explore the more extreme range of their bike's performance capabilities in a track setting but, having done both, I must say there is something to be said for swiftly carving through back roads immersed in scenery. One of the things I most appreciate about the Panigale is that one needs not be on a track to enjoy many of its great features, including its terrific ergonomics, superb handling, and extraordinary braking.

They same can be said for any sport bike with over 100hp on the road. Do you not think your bike with 170bhp is too much for the road??

I think if you can afford the sl buy it and enjoy, who cares how you ride it as long as you take it out and enjoy

I agree.. if I was able to put down money on it and own one, I would surely be riding it everyday in nice weather and get a lot of miles on it even if it means only on the street.. unless you have insurance that is prepared to cover any .... u do on the track, its a huge risk with this expensive machine..

For sure this bike is not one to be left parked in a garage and sold a few yrs later on as a low miles bike.. that is a total waste having it as a showpiece item..

Look, if people want to just ride the SL on the street that's their prerogative. I completely don't get it...but I'll try not to judge. It's kinda like having the hottest gf around and only wanting to cuddle.

Repeat: having SL, Pani, MVF4, HP4, etc. and not riding letter to letter is the only way I see any of these bikes wasted. Ride how you want and enjoy, just try and lean over a bit!

I got the invite for the SL form Ducati in the UK and put my name in the hat for a place on the "list of 500" never thinking it would come out ? but surprise surprise I have been selected to be a "lucky onwer"

Now I need to stump up the deposit and decide if I want to trade in either my 1098R Bayliss or 1199 Tricolore, assuming you can trade against the SL ? can I really justify the cost of the SL or do I stick with what I have ?

Decisions decisions !!

If you're really serious about getting the SL I would keep the 1098R Bayliss and trade the 1199 Tricolore. That's just my opinion though. At the end of the day the decision is yours to make.
