I just received word from my dealer that I've been chosen to be a SL owner, now they want 20% (13k) deposit within 10 days to secure the bike for a April 2014 delivery... Hmmmmmm

I was in the same position 2 weeks back and couldn't commit on the deposit.. since that didn't happen the allotment to the dealer is no longer guaranteed.

I also read that all SL bikes would be delivered by July 2014 but there was no indication as to when is the earliest that they start sending them out of Bologna

haha, if they say July they might send the first 10 bikes out, then there's going to be factory holiday in august so it's gonna be November...

Come on Phil, can you think of anything more refreshing than a caramel, half skim milk, half soy milk, frappacino (sp?) after jumpin off of that SL?

And making sure you're wearing your SuperLeggera special edition jacket and matching helmet so there's no doubt who's the owner? And, of course, a superleggera t-shirt underneath in case you take your jacket off. Wait, then pull out your superleggera iphone case for when you need to type in those DIGITS!

For those on the fence still, there's your ROI.

Dont forget the matching (empty) wallet!

I can't believe it. You got my standard coffee order in one. Now I just need to buy the bike and find a starbucks. BTW where can I buy the Superlegara special edition jacket. I might just get one of those. It will be cheaper than actually buying the bike. I could just tell people its getting serviced.

Just saw the new video. Seems like they finally put some nice grips on there and a different seat. So now we have the 899 seat and the SL seat to try out as well....lol

A&R posted more pics on the 1199 SL from EICMA but I was mainly interested in 2 of them which seemed to highlight the DWC control on the LH switch..

The light colored switch has the word UP on the front and there is one on the reverse side of the grip which says DOWN

I'd wager it is for on-the-fly DTC adjustement, similar to what the Aprilia RSV4 already has.

The UP switch is for the new optional touring windscreen which is electrically adjustable and very lightweight. I read about it on the internet.

It's actually for adjusting suspension height for offroad riding. I know for a fact it's correct cuz I read about it on the s1000rr forum.

You guys are all funny talking in reference to pricing and stuff... Find a SINGLE manufacturer doing something like this. The materials involved alone are worth the asking price. Try and make a Magnesium composite frame body and get back to me as to the cost of making that and what you'd have to charge to make any money on the deal...

Also, the specs of this bike are amazing. Look closely at the pistons, the crank, the things outside may leave you feeling bummed, but it is the heart that makes me excited. The carbon fiber sub frame alone is probably worth almost $10k. It shouldn't be hidden it is that beautiful.

I've pushed the bike with everything but fuel in it and it felt like a mountain bike. Amazing. And when you look at details like EVERY fairing bolt, every engine bolt, every EVERY bolt made of titanium. The rounded and sculptured fairing edges, the details like the spacers, etc. All attention to details.

This is a "Hey world, this is what CAN be done and produced for the general public". And oh yeah... 8 lbs lighter than the WSBK...

Quit looking at the outside and pay attention to the details and $65k will make you feel that they could have asked for so much more. Try and price out an 1199RS13 and get back to me.
