1199R vs 1299S - Which is better?

Nope, it doesn't matter if we are talking about street or track. Either one of them is fully capable of breaking lap records with the right rider.

A Ducati test rider was able to take a bone stock 1299S, on the OEM DOT tires, and lap within 4sec of the WSBK lap times....on pump gas, with mirrors, mudflap and all still on the bike. You have to figure race Slicks, removing the mirrors/mudflap, suspension setup and a good dyno tune would be worth about 2 seconds at least. If so, that would put a bone stock 1299S lapping within 2sec of a WSBK pace......and this was a test rider, it wasn't Chaz Davies.

Either one of them is A LOT more capable of 99% of the riders in the world. As the gentleman said in his post, it is like arguing over which company has the best 100lb dumbbells, when somebody can only lift the 50lb dumbbells.

Arguing over which one is better is one of the stupidest subjects on this entire board. Especially when the majority of riders don't even get on the track, much less race.

If we are talking about street riding, it damn sure doesn't matter. Either one of them is way overkill and they pretty much both suck when compared to bikes that are meant for street riding/commuting.

Unless your riding skills are up developed, you on an SL or 2015R or 1299S will be destroyed by an experienced racer on a Ninja 650 or Yamaha R6….
Having a bigger wiener doesn't always guarantee you the winner, you can still have a smaller dink— its the way you use it that .....…

Couldn't agree more. :)

Funny about which is faster.... Mostly riding ability makes you faster, but I can shed some real world experience at the track. I ride a 2015 1299s, 2017 Anniversario, 2016 MV Agusta F4RR, F3 800 EAS with major upgrades. My example is this, I catch a guy riding the "R", he slows terribly inthe corners so I line him up for an easy pass, so I thought. and at the end of the strait, I am passing him and then he zings out in front of me, in a strait! Late on power, and still remained in front of me regardless of how much I set him up. He had the pull over a 1299s with full race akros, mapped and CARBON WHEELS. There is something to be said for the "R". I dont want that kind of maintenance with 9 bikes in my collections already. I would hate to own a "Shop Queen" as most "R's" are.

1199R has more pull than a 1299s, end of story. The rest is rider.....
