I would totally do that. I would take Tadashi (board member) to Fontana with bike 1 and a 1299Sl and let him go head to head. Im not at all good enough a rider to do this without crashing but I would for sure foot the bill.

Maybe come back when you can actually have something that associates you with the context of the forum. Its called Ducati1299.com. Not "wishing I had a Ducati1299.com"

Oh Im living mine. I have a bunch of people here who can vouch for me. Retired at 39 Your still dreaming about owning a motorcycle without training wheels. Lets see some pics of you and wealth that you have amassed. Go ahead post up. I guess joining the board is kind of like owning the bike that the board is centered around. I think. Guys?

No I would rather see you on a bike that you own not a photoshopped generation of you financing your life away for a bike your dreaming about.

Like I said, Maybe come back around when you have come to your senses regarding reality. You join a chat board to converse about a subject that you know nothing about. 27 posts of fantasy.

Its not all a loss man. Really anything in the 99 series is going to be way too much bike for you so its best it was just a pipe dream. You could have injured yourself or worse, others.

Look at you. So desperate to belong you join a chat board dedicated to your fantasy before you have a bike and you want to go toe to toe on a subject matter that you have absolutely zero experience with. You interject opinions with regard to engineering about a platform you know nothing about other than the photos you have wiped the drool off of. Who does that? Oh I know, you do. Again. Ducati1299.com not "dreaming of Ducati1299.com" Joining prior to participating is a bit pre-mature but then again, I'm sure thats not the first time that you have heard that descriptor. Nice picture of someone else's bike order that is not actually in anyones hands. Please keep us informed if you are at some point actually able to muster up something other than a scale model of a Panigale. Chow

LOL By the way, nice letter to the "dealer". Good one. If you want i can send you an audio file of some vroom vroom sounds so you can turn the fantasy up a notch. Just trying to help.

Im just giving you bad time man. I am the resident board jack .... I have no doubt your getting an SL and its a great bike and I am sure you can ride circles around me. Well that isn't actually saying much, Im pretty terrible. I own a couple of really boring medical technology companies and an aerospace shop. These toys are my only escape from the nerd herd. I like to build stuff. You were a good sport and make some valid points. Thanks for the banter and again, really no seriousness in any of this. Your going to love the bike.

Lol...Endo that is a bit rough about not having the bike and joining a board, you do know that when this site started hardly any of us had a 1199 :D

Jeez the banter flowed thick and fast during those days.

I think I joined about march 2012. I paid my deposit of $500 at the Sydney motorcycle show in November 2011.

I got the 5th 1199 into Australia

I still love it

Wish I had the spare cash to buy the 1299 SL

but will never sell my first born 1199s

If you were only there for the conversation. When I finished bike 1 I had it at the Long Beach show. The marketing director for DMA went over it extensively and exclaimed that while the 1299sl was a premiere bike, that I had taken it to a refined level and in essence, had been riding a 1299sl for 2 years so I hate to rain on the parade but I and a few others beat Ducati to the punch quite some time ago. I had the first set of 1299 CF bodywork from CDT. The bike actually still has the prototype set. I did the motor mods and more of them including many Corse pieces not on the 1299SL. I did top shelf Brembo, WSBK Ohlins pieces, ceramic rotors bla bla in 2015 so Luigi can hang on to his gimmicky plaque and "exclusive" garbage. I built much of bike 1 and bike 2 with the help of many on this board as well as OPP, CP NCR. We had a lighter bike with more power and higher end parts 2 years before the 1299SL and we did it for less money. I would hold off on the V4 until you see what's coming next.

Ohh .... off a guy at ducati told you that you had an awesome bike seriously big ....... deal he is hardly going to call it a turd.

if you had turned up with the next V4 i would be impressed but a modded ducati with premium parts give me a ....... break.

BTW i think your bike is great but groundbreaking it is not you are just in a position to be able to afford alot of bling and have the skill set to piece it together.

Duc749R, congratulations on your incoming 1299SL. As has been said before, it's an awesome machine and you should be applauded for your passion in purchasing such a beast. May you enjoy many many wonderful years and miles with it.

Well Reno power sports just called and said they have an SL that is up for grabs. The intended owner got sick so it is up again. He said he was calling everyone that wanted a numbered bike and asked if I was interested. $88k with the taxes makes it way to steep for me. He also mentioned a lot of people interested in it which strikes me odd why he would call me then.

I suspect this will be the narrative that we're going to hear over the next few months.
