Makes sence to me . I want my bike making good HP but being able to a season with very little maintenance .
I will be fitting the superstock headers to my bike as would like to improve the mid range .
Took the bike the track for the first time last week and was able to drop my time from the base bike so was happy impressed with the R motor .
Standard suspension needs work but I will be ditching it all together .

yep ! i just ordered the Pro pipe as well... should solve quit some issues..
i can't compare but this bike really jumps out of corners ... i hit a 2:04 on the 3 lap i did there and without a full clear lap in cold conditions... i'm sure 1:58/2:00 would have been possible by the end of day 2... that is not last in very fast group on a first outing on that track and a second with the bike... it really is something... frankly i have no clew why everybody is moaning about it and that it would not be a Ducati...

what are you putting on ? the gascartridge seems to be doing a very good job!

I am going with the oil cartridge as I am able to work on them myself at the track if need be I had the same on my base bike and my BMW and like the ease of maintainance .

here she is..

done at 80%

still 5 parts to fit that are in the mail..
then tuning of the engine and suspension setup... even though it worked wonderfully at SPA

Hey Kope, I love this thread...awesome bike!!! breathtaking, my dream bike....I notice in your flickr pics, photo 12 on the right hander the exhaust has a dark black blob on it. Did you work out what that was? It looks like paint almost......

Ride Report: This will be short for now but I rode the 1199R at Willow Springs yesterday testing both the setup and two sets of slicks: Michelin Power slick 12/60 front - B compound, Michelin Power slick 20/69 rear - C compound and Dunlop KR106 front -302 compound, Dunlop KR449 rear - M+ compound.

I was able to lap consistently in the 1:32-1:33 range rather easily on both sets of tires and the bike worked GREAT! Usually when I go to the track with a new bike I find 5-6 issues that I NEED to address but I didn't find one and I didn't change one setting either, from my base line setup I already had. I did change the EBC from setting 2 to 3 and I liked that!

I have the following changes to the bike:

- DP Corse rearsets with Reverse shifter
- DP Race seat
- Folding levers for the stock master cylinders
- Z04 race brake pads
- Ducati Corse sprocket carrier, AFAM 41 tooth 520 rear sprocket, Superlight 15 tooth 520 front sprocket.
- Removed all lights and bodypanels except for tail and replaced with DP fairing kit (temporary until the Ducati Corse bodywork arrives)
- The full exhaust and map that came with the R
- DP carbon case saver on the left side of the bike
- Magnetti Marelli left-side controls switch

I think that is it. I used the forged magnesium rear rim from my 1098 race bike and the front from my base model for the extra set of rims to mount the Dunlop on to make life easier.

Turn in wasn't very different between the Michelin and Dunlop, neither was edge grip. After two sessions of getting comfortable with the track, I've only been there one other time, AND taking it a little easy on the bike, started the day with 550 total miles, AND getting a feel for the rather LARGE but surprisingly light Michelins I stepped it up a bit and honestly didn't feel a big difference between the two sets of slicks.

I ran them both at the same pressure settings, as Big Willow is notoriously hard on rear tires since you spend a significant portion of time on the right side of the tire..... I will continue my evaluation of these tires and this AWESOME bike at Fontana in a few weeks.

Overall the power of the bike was very smooth and seamless, the handling was neutral and predictable and the transitions side-to-side were fairly easy. Race times on either tire should drop for me about 4 seconds. We will see as I plan to race it at Big Willow in mid-July.

More later....

btw, I think the picture below is from turn five.

it was some grease coming from the frontsprocket... of which there was plenty... .. good remark! :)

RRacer, thanks for putting in ! i really apreciate input like that in this thread.. it's what we're here fore... i agree wiht you that handling has been a doddle uptill now... i really can't comprihend where all the malcontent comes from.. it just falls into corners faster and shoots out of them like a bullit.. and i'm 100kg's... i'm sure i will hit a limit soon but uptill now, its fun fun fun only.... i run 16,5" 190 Pirelli SC2 and haven't seen the tcs light yet, even on 5... indeed the EBC makes quit am impact on riding... couldn't agree more.. looking forward to read more from you soon...

so : news got in that the first din dyno run with EVO tube/system and MWR filter and standard EVO map yielded 192 rwhp measured in din.. i should know SAE reults tomorrow. More significant was that this is 10BHP more then the Base with same pipe/system and filter... this week should see the timing done and a new dyno will be done... with timing and Pro pipe, we could be heading for 200 bhp+ at the RW :)... not bad

my mates have upgraded to the R as well and one did pull the 1000km in 2 days and once did 300kmh with 1000 revs to go... :)

we're sort of negotiating a servicescheme / maintenance agreement to keep the warranty on the R in track conditions... interesting times :)

Another first world problem. :D

Thanks for the update :) .

Wilks here the same : schedumed for the end of june! :)

probably a SSTK timing....

really looking forward to the PRO as the graph shows quit a dip below 7K ... will post it this weekend.

grtz

This pipe was supposed to be released end if April. It's been pushed back twice already (as has akras pipe). So hopefully we will see some real options delivered before 2014....

frankly, i'm keeping my fingers crossed as well... perhaps they're still working on the mapping.. the pipe itself doesn't seem to be all that difficult to make... :)

first dyno run

this is the SAE dyno chart showing 187 at the rears wheel.
the setup is the TERMI EVO line with standard EVO map and with a MWR filter

we're waiting for the PRO manifild to come in end of june to do the further development.

Rumours go that for dedicated track use, Ducati is working on a maintenance schedule that, if kept to, should keep warranty intact. any use of aftermarket enginekit or motormanagement would make this warranty nul and void.

to allow for customers to check on the maps they are given, apparantly some further mapping development is under way as well. Seems like Ducati knows the R will be run on track a lot and want to do a proper job getting het engines fueling correct.. from looking at the chart, the dip between 5 and 7 really shows and at Assen, moren then at Spa , you could feel it. as more corners just dip into that rev range..
