Which brings me to a full on GoPro gripe, I have had so many of their cameras not work correctly. Sure some of them have been involved in some light low sides, those I have kinda chalked up to oh well they re glitching. This season maybe 2 months ago I bought to brand new Black 11 cameras - both turn off now during a session. I have heard that after the 9 they are very sensitive to vibration, which honestly I wish they said, "these don't work on motorcycles" but they would never do that because they would rather that someone drop $800 and then they deal with it after the y stop working idk - small rant

The struggle is real. I've been playing with action cameras since 2009, professionally working on projects with them. GoPro I have given up on. The cameras are so unreliable, I've had a half dozen of them, each crap. Plus they stole my prototypes when I had a meeting at the GoPro office in SF and they pretended like they had no idea where they went. What a bunch of fking clowns.
Then I tried a number of small brands which got used once and tossed. So much crap on the market right now.
My Insta360 has been the most reliable until recently - I got a good 2 years out of it. Took it scuba diving, race track, all over the place. No issues.
It is however challenging as Rick describes editing. It takes a LOT of hours unless you use the phone app and use the Auto AI mode to knock out something. Short videos are a snap that way.
My complaint with small cameras starting with phone cameras is every (gawwdamned) one is made for selfies with ultra-wide lens. When will this BS end?
I might try an Insta ONE RS 1Inch. You can buy 2 to get 360, or just use one which is essentially a 4K 60fps action camera with a Leica lens. It's not a bad deal. All modular for upgrades for new lenses and batteries etc.

Finally got out on the 23 R to race ASRA//CCS @ NJMP last weekend. I had not raced in the last 2 seasons, and never on the big bike - my only previous racing was on 959. I have gotten geometry and suspension to a good spot and my pace was decent. I have purposely not been keeping track of lap times this season up until this point to work on setup + feeling with the bike. Which led to some frustrating moments with DDA // OEM lap timer which I saw @Somefun posting about. On the practice day I just ended up buying AIM solo 2 to strap to side of front stay because I cannot deal with looking at a laptimer in cockpit - this also did not work properly.

I had top 3 pace all weekend but I really ...... myself with starts all weekend. Day 1 I was using launch control 2 and struggling, partially because I haven't launched in a while, partially because after the electronics we're letting go the front came up suddenly. Day 2 I switched to manual launches which also didnt start out great but def got better, I had one good launch which got me where I wanted to be into T1 and finished P2 - however I did lurch 4" at start and was given 5 sec penalty putting me back to P3... SMH. Each race I was basically in the back of the pack into T1 and then fought back thru the pack to get back to where I started - which most of the time was such a physical exertion that led to me making mistakes on the last 2 laps.

My goal for the weekend was to get behind the 2 guys faster then me up front and latch on to them to get below 1:30 lap pace - which did not happen but this is due to the above mentioned starts. I will race this bike all season next season and be able to progress faster then this season as I will be coming into the year with a sorted setup.

TIRES
On day 1 I ran and SC0 for the first time and it was marginally better then a SC1. Better edge/drive grip but it went off after 2 races and was moving around considerably. On day 2 I switched to the SCX which is by far a much better tire, the grip was amazing NOTICEABLE jump from SC0. The rear of he bike almost felt heavier due to the grip level. I was on SC2 front all weekend @ 37 psi - I have considered trying the SC1 front but didn't feel up to trying this weekend as I am running very soft springs in forks and didn't want to risk front end feel.

Another interesting thing I did was switched from pump to T4 gas for the races. In hind sight not a good decision, It was burning much faster then pump and I wasn't putting enough in, in 2 races the engine started cutting out at full gas causing me to have to let off and not cause any dangerous situations on track. On the practice day they always have a mock race for people getting their race license, they are always sketchy and not a good idea however. wanted to practice a start so I went out. I had just ridden the entire session before this mock race and the plan was to pull off after the start. After the launch which went pretty well I decided to stay out for. couple laps, at NJMP there is a fast chicane before the straight which is also were pit out is. Guy in front of me was slow and I was blasting by him on the right in the chicane - this ..... decided to pit out with no warning so at over 100mph I was rear wheel off the ground TOPRAKing to th right to avoid bad situation. We touched but stayed up and came off track where I lost my ........ Very close call, we were almost on the ground under the bridge at T12 where you come onto straight at about 130 mph. Very fortunate

Mate, launching the V4 is the bain of my life!
The wet clutch is marginally easier/better. But it ..... your whole race. If I manage to hold position, or lose only one/two spots, that's a good start.

Might be worth looking into that Racebox Mini S if you just want lap data for post-session analysis. Really easy to use.

Nice report Karl. I'm super curious to try those tires.
Nice save too. Some people think they're alone in their helmet. Makes me want knock to see if anyone is home.

one other thing I noticed which his annoying for track and racing. When the gas light comes on the RPMs disappear and it switches to miles. Very annoying to have to toggle back to RPM, in races I just left it. Had ai raced it previously I would have a better idea of gas needed per race.

Crazy that Ducati didn’t make RPM the default field at the top part of the screen in the Track Evo info mode

My Hero 11 usually cuts our after a few minutes..So annoying, sent it back and new oneness exactly the same.
My Chinese camera that cost 20% of the gopro price is better.

Apparently all the new GoPro’s have two major issues, when they vibrate too much the battery pins lose contact and they loose power, which makes them very difficult to use at track, the 2nd issue is just as bad, they overheat about 5 minutes into video taping if it’s above about 80 degrees Fahrenheit, so you can use them in summer outside for more than 5 minutes, what a piece of junk.

I looked at LOTS of reviews, and apparently the camera to go with for reliability is the

DJI - Osmo Action 4

And it has better software.

44 Teeth did a video where they spoke to the equipment they use. I don't think the older GoPro models had the same issue as the newer ones, and I've always found 44 Teeth's videos to be exceptionally well produced and of high quality. I hate the 360 whatever cameras. The view the present is hot trash and with all of the effects looks fake.

Yeah, I don't use the track evo layout. It seems bizarre that it doesn't show engine temperature, but does show if your lights are on 🤷‍♂️
The function of showing which rider aid is functioning, is, marginally beneficial. But, doesn't show DSC working 🤦‍♂️
And, sometimes the revs scroll off to something else by itself.

I’m contemplating the idea of getting an AIM dash installed on a hinge of some sort in case settings need to be changed or at a slight offset.

EVO4S logging kit specifically not only because it offers a dash that’s slightly smaller than the bike dash that would allow rider aid changes but also because it would show lap times, engine temp, a nice rev counter and full data/suspension travel logging all for a reasonable price too.

I’m just trying to figure out where and how to install it.

Design rant <start>
We're in an era of idiotic UX/UI with everything so over designed and overstuffed with features popups and automatons. Trending in the industry are n00bs right out of school in charge of this kind of design. I can't wait until there are only AI handlers left making all this for us.
Design rant <end> No help at all sorry.

@Vbreeze you've got an in with Claudio, can you tell him to fix this dash? 😆

Ya, I've got a list of, "wtf is this ........?" I've contemplated offering my services. There was even a position open. I just don't want to be an employee, I've got bigger fish to fry.
Once I ran into Davide Tardozzi and Gigi at Misano staring at the sky and I walked up and said, "Ciao, after trying the new Panigale 2023 on track, I've got a list of improvements..." dead serious. Davide back peddled "non non no no I only think about Motogp! That's not my camp!" Then I told him I was joking.
Gigi just rolled his eyes, Davide laughed and we spoke a minute.
Maybe I should try to do some consulting. I designed and mapped out a new Ducati app once as well that's not a BS marketing funnel but something useful to pilots. Navigation, simple telemetry run through a phone. The current Ducati app is an absolutely shameless data vacuum. WTF is the value add for me?
Oh, it's a gate keeper for access to events omfg. "Are we friends, or are we enemies?" is the question consumers should be asking companies they spend with these days because it's really not clear IMO. There used to be well enforced laws around this. Not anymore. The admins of major countries have become a kind of ignorant whore to all things tech.
We will need a revolution with dancing. The only answer.

Or "I'll wait until 3AM and drunk text him, "no one likes a popup fuuuuuck this UI. It's not 2001."

Do you think its an electronics problem, clutch master/slave problem, or something else? I'm using the wet clutch and every time I've tried to launch it with DPL its been terrible.
