What bike do you have? Did it feel better the 15 sprocket?

22 PV4S. Easier street riding and on track. Plan on going up a tooth in the rear which should be even better.

With just the 15 front, I was just getting into 5th on the main straight of Thunderhill East and then felt in between gears for the 1-2-3 complex

If you’re gearing for a specific track/straight and “just getting into 5th” near the end of the straight, this suggests your gearing is a little short - going shorter (up a tooth in back) makes no sense. You should be going longer so you can carry 4th to the end of the straight and you’re not having to go up into 5th at all.

Alternatively, you could go so short that you’re running out 4th gear and going into 5th half way down the straight instead of right at the end.

In some ways going with longer gearing smooths these bikes out, makes them
Easier to ride with better throttle control, because the bike isn’t so peaky when you twist the grip. But then as you get a lot more comfortable on the bike I found that a 15/41 setup is right in the sweet spot on most tracks out west.

Agreed. Think we’re at 16/40 because I was on the limiter for so long on the back straight here at COTA.

Coming on to the main straight I'm in 2nd and probably a little low on rpm (7-8k). Peak torque for the 1103 engine is around 9k. Going shorter will let me be in 5th earlier and for longer then allow me to stay in 3rd through 1-2-3 complex and able to stay higher in the revs. I think it'll also be beneficial in other parts of the track.

As I've been getting more comfortable on the bike, I'm trying to ride with higher rpm. It is easier to ride a gear higher and lower rpm but you lose lots of drive.

Neither having anything to do with the 916..remember, Ducati make money not bikes!

God knows next we will have a old 1199 resurrected and called a V2 with a load of stickers to look like the 2001 Troy Bayliss bike even though again neither Bayliss or his 998 or any of the ducati bikes he rode have anything to do with the 1199..er I mean V2.

I still struggle to see how it’s paying homage to a 916. At least it was a proper limited edition though.

Yeah it is getting kinda silly the homage to older bikes with newer bikes. I kinda get releasing the World Championship liveries from recent wins, but continuously releasing homage bikes to former classics is wearing a bit thin. I guess that’s what you do when you don’t have much innovation to offer currently. Or you could be like the GSXR and just say screw all this innovation, our bike works great as it is and we don’t need to pay ourselves on the back for decades old innovation.

Just wait 4 more years for Honda to release a CBR 1000 “Honda cub 70th anniversary edition” with a sticker kit, dry clutch and some overpriced wheels

I dig it, really want to rewire my video setup and may be able to move the video controller to where you are placing your Solo 2
