Honestly this sounds like ........ from this Master Tech, to say that he uses sonar (which actually only operates in water) to diagnose a huge imminent engine failure to happen within 100 miles. Like he’s an engine whisperer or something. I’m not a master tech but worked on my own bikes many years and I’m an engineer as well. What exactly is he hearing?

Probably a ticking sound, similar to an alarm clock.

That ticking sound is loose closers. A seasoned guy can hear loose rod bearings, everything going on in the valve train, a spalled bearing, piston slap etc. I use an old really long snap-on phillips screwdriver ear to handle. Works perfectly. Ducati's always sound like they have a loose part rubbing up against a broken one.

Ah, the old screwdriver trick...I used to do that to listen to the tappets on my T150 Triumph. Was hard to hear much above the big ends knocking though 🤣

I'm guessing the only "racing" it did in those 5k miles was in a straight line.

We actually had some pretty good twisties where im from. And by racing I mean hitting the top of 6th which most track bikes will basically never do.

The sonar part was me joking I wasnt actually serious but he literally listened to it and said it was ...... up and would blow soon. I was not told that directly only from the service manager.... I have no clue what hes actually hearing because I took the bike back today and it sounded like the day I bought it and randomly it wasnt leaking coolant now even though they said they pull all the old .... back in. I asked the service manager today wtf they were talking about because the bike sounds and runs fine.

Thats exactly why it's being taken apart in my garage going to measure literally every single part that needs to be in clearance and see what the .... hes hearing or heard.

So all ........ then. Highway pull nonsense. This entire thread never really passed the smell test and it keeps becoming more and more obvious.

The long and short of this is that you abused the .... out of it, Ducati realized same, and said piss off to your warranty claim.

Drag racing. Hard launches and infrequent to non-existent oil changes/ maintenance will do a world of hurt on any engine. The story provided seems a bit specious at best. Wondering if my 2021 with 10k on the odometer will require a replacement last week?
