The sweet sound of a latte bubbling over...
Honestly this sounds like ........ from this Master Tech, to say that he uses sonar (which actually only operates in water) to diagnose a huge imminent engine failure to happen within 100 miles. Like he’s an engine whisperer or something. I’m not a master tech but worked on my own bikes many years and I’m an engineer as well. What exactly is he hearing?
Where are you? What dealership? Ducati is not flying techs around to look at bikes
That ticking sound is loose closers. A seasoned guy can hear loose rod bearings, everything going on in the valve train, a spalled bearing, piston slap etc. I use an old really long snap-on phillips screwdriver ear to handle. Works perfectly. Ducati's always sound like they have a loose part rubbing up against a broken one.Probably a ticking sound, similar to an alarm clock.
You sure you shipped your bike to a dealer and not to a clown like @andyb? Haha
Rick probably threw some washers into his oil filler wherever that isProbably a ticking sound, similar to an alarm clock.
I’ll be the clown…. You can be the thief!

Ah, the old screwdriver trick...I used to do that to listen to the tappets on my T150 Triumph. Was hard to hear much above the big ends knocking though
Interesting. I think the V4R motor is 3k refresh, and the 1103 motor at 6k? According to the race schedule.
I'm guessing the only "racing" it did in those 5k miles was in a straight line.

So all ........ then. Highway pull nonsense. This entire thread never really passed the smell test and it keeps becoming more and more obvious. We actually had some pretty good twisties where im from. And by racing I mean hitting the top of 6th which most track bikes will basically never do.
