Drag racing. Hard launches and infrequent to non-existent oil changes/ maintenance will do a world of hurt on any engine. The story provided seems a bit specious at best. Wondering if my 2021 with 10k on the odometer will require a replacement last week?

So all ........ then. Highway pull nonsense. This entire thread never really passed the smell test and it keeps becoming more and more obvious.

The long and short of this is that you abused the .... out of it, Ducati realized same, and said piss off to your warranty claim.

Hadn’t occurred to me but now that you mention it, this is far more rational than the story the OP presented.

Running well you say? 100 miles the duc master says? If it was me I'd get that master tech to ride shotgun until she blows, pulling 6th gear somethings, then you'll really find out what wrong with it

I wouldn't say it was abused, it was raced though. The intention of the thread was not to convince you one way or the other. Opinions are like ........ and everyone has one. I didn't believe what the master mech said so I wanted to investigate myself. Imagine that I found a few other people with the same kind of issue. Ducati didn't "realize" anything other than the motor needs to be replaced. The motor was never opened and still sounds the exact same as the day I bought it. Probably wont be the last coolant leak on these bikes either. The entire bike was kind of sketchy when I first bought it though brand new off of the Ducati showroom floor had a few warranty issues right out of the gate, (Suspension flashing, Tool broke off on one of the subframe bolts, Several bolts stripped.) It's a miracle that it made it out of the factory like that. As for oil changes there was one at 600 no metal in the oil pan, then about every 1000 miles I changed it using motul 300v and the last oil change was about 100 miles prior to bringing it in when the coolant leak developed. As it stands it doesn't really matter all that much

I'm not one to cry about stupid .... that doesn't matter. For all I know one of the mechanics that left while they were "diagnosing" my bike didn't assemble the bike correctly. All I'm interested in is the how it broke or rather why he believes its going to break and where. Feel free to keep making assumptions though.

They wouldn't tell me exactly who the master mechanic was, I did ask to talk to him directly to see what he heard so I can at least confirm whether or not he was right. I got it back in my hands yesterday and it rode and sounded exactly like I left it with Ducati, literally brand new.
For pinks. In the canyons. Balls deep.

He's got NOS dude.

That really just depends on how you ride it, A lot of people seem to just highway cruise these bikes not knocking it but not what I like to do. Unfortunately the bike has had 6 oil changes with motul 300v over the 5100 mile life span. It was probably pretty close to needing to be rebuilt. The cool thing is the bike actually runs without a coolant leak now, it's still being disassembled but it fired up flawlessly like every other time. I really have a hard time believing the master mechanics findings personally. Either way ill find out here in a week or so.

Pretty wasteful especially considering the outcome.

The whole flown in Ducati master mechanic thing sounds like ......... They likely read the logged engine speeds from the ECU and decided to stop throwing money at it.

Right there, that voids your warranty. Not surprising they didn’t want to touch it.

I think that's kinda dumb to make a race bike and void the warranty for racing it. Its not that they didn't want to touch it rather they said it was not worth repairing if it would break 100 miles down the road then be out the repair plus a new motor.

Those are the terms. Like BP said, they probably hooked it up to the diagnostic system and saw all the chicanery

Good luck with it, be interesting to see what you find!
