23 V4R Exhaust & ECU Flash Options

I’m looking at the available options for a 3/4 exhaust system to fit my 23 V4R track bike, it seems that there are several options from various suppliers in terms of hardware (Will likely go for a Storm Performance under-seat system with two sets of end cans for the loud and quiet track days). However, I am little stumped when it comes to the best way to proceed in flashing the ECU.

I see that there are various companies that provide ECU tuning services for Ducati’s and so I wondered if anyone could advise me on the following:

1) Who would you suggest is the most proficient ECU tuning company, specifically for Ducati’s in the UK?

2) Are there any generic maps available for the 23 V4R (I don’t see any listed on the UpMap site)

3) If I decide to get the Evo 3 Software installed, should I get the EVO 3 software loaded, prior to having the ECU flashed, in order to avoid conflicts in the software. I.E one effecting or overwriting the other?

4) Would having a third party ecu map loaded onto my machine invalidate the Ducati manufacturer’s warranty ?

I have spoken to my dealer and they just want to sell me the £7K + Akra U/S system, which I’m not keen on. I have also had a good search on here and found some interesting, albeit, conflicting information, so thought I would put it out there again in an attempt to seek some clarity.

Cheers

Get Evo3 first.
Fit exhaust.
Get a Woolich dyno tune/flash.

Where're you based? Dart Motorsport in the south are good.

MSS in Essex also good.

BHP in the north.

I’m in the North Devon area mate, so miles from most tuning places. There is a guy in Plymouth who’s very good with Jap IL4’s but not so much with Ducatis.

Cjs are near Bristol ….

Have heard of these guys, looking at their website I take it they write their own maps? If they just map the ECU would that negate the manufacturer’s warranty?

Spark 3/4 exhaust, there are several quiet and loud options.

Deussen tune.

I am not sure that I am keen on a remote tuning option. Would rather have the work done in an active scenario on a dyno

If you’re worried about warranty, I’m not sure modifying a V4R (apart from Ducati Performance parts) is for you. Just altering gearing voids your warranty

I would also recommend CJS for a proper cylinder selective dyno tune

Modifying gearing voids the warranty in all new V4. Thats what is stated in the owners manual

I can get you a phone number to text if you like… he’s not very good with email..

Tuning each cylinder individually.

There is one O2 sensor per bank, true individual cylinder tuning is not possible unless the tuner created an individual bung on each exhaust pipe (impractical), even then it would need to be a wide band o2 sensor giving a wider fuel air ratio, typical 5 to 20. For expense and mandates to detect a misfire the manufacture just monitors the the bank... or 2 pipes into 1 then the narrow band o2. Then the manufacture monitors post catalyst function via the 3rd narrow band o2 sensor. One can tune/chang individual cylinder(injector pulse width) though they will not be aware of the effects because they don't have a way to test individual exhaust pipes. What tuners state they are tuning individual cylinders and pacifically how are they testing outcomes?
