bump for update on group buy possibility
Me and Gunny are working on it... I promise we haven't forgotten...But these things take a little time and we are waiting for a little more info from Akra...
sorry, i should have expanded a little further. as it was explained to me by my dealer, once we do any changes to the ECU (be it rexxer, power commander, etc) it in effect voids the warranty. in the case of a mechanical/electronic failure, the rep handling a warranty claim will see the after market exhaust, hook the bike up to the computer, and see all the aftermarket changes. again i could be wrong, but this is how it was explained to me.

an official endorsement from ducati would certainly make this alot easier. oh and maybe a nice discount
hearing the exact same thing and i have one on order so if it voids the warranty i will not be going for it.
This is how it was explained to me by my dealer as well. Hopefully we'll see Ducati back this exhaust with an ECU upmap now that they are offering the Akras with the Pani SL.
This is all you people need one question.
Ask ducati store owner etc HOW AND WHY COULD AN AKRA DAMAGE THE EXHAUST?????
Answer cause termi is made for ducati what nonsense.I want to see their answers, since dealer i know said they keep telling them termi termi termi and they never say why no akra
Guys i nfactory in slovenia people told me if anythign would have happened they would fix my bike themselves. Now the thing is ducati sells termi and having other exhaust on is bad for termi.
Now you guys tell me how could an akra damage the bike
Ducati handler have specific order to say it,it cannot damage the bike in anyway anyhow its just bla bla bla. They told me in factory in slovenia,IF but that IF is like 0.01% something could be wrong.
Now as for ducati they say akra is just not made like termi etc bla bla bla,ok then why would akra test and make exhaust 2 years for what to get broken down, and not one product from akra had any trouble on any bike
It is about time termi admits along with ducati akra is akra end story.
Its a marketing pull.
All you do put akra upload up-map you are ready to go,and trying both on panigale R.
bike reacts and breathes better with akra and i had no trouble what so ever and i called my friend in development department and he said not one trouble came up since they made the first one.
So guys just go for it dont worry, its not like you puttin on leo vinci cmmon.
Ronin,
I agree with you it's BS and i don't see why it would void the warranty but i don't have the factory beside me should something happen and i am not sure i want to take the chance should my motor blow etc.
I should have a definitive answer today so i'm hoping i can go forward with it.
What tuning/map are you using with your Akra??

tHE EXHAUST AND TERMI UP-MAP CANNOT DAMAGE ENGINE!!!!!!!!
NOW IF YOU DO ECU AND GO INTO COMPUTER IN DEPTH DETAIL THAT I DO NOT KNOW,PROBABLY NOT BUT THEY COULD USE IT AS AN EXCUSE FOR VOIDING WARRANTY
i don't get the whole AKRA vs. TERMI thing??? where did that come from in the first place and where is Rich when we finally need him

Yes, the primary issue here seems to reside with the ECU up-map. Based on manufacturer reputation alone, there is very little reason to assume the Akra exhaust would have any negative effects on the mechanical functioning of the bike - particularly to the point of a malfunction, but the overarching concern here is that if some other seemingly unrelated issue arose, it could theoretically give Ducati grounds to deny a warranty claim on the basis that the possibility of the exhaust or ECU up-map playing a contributing role in the malfunction cannot be eliminated.
