Anyone 'carry' when riding?

No offence taken KENSTEELE, I was trying to take the piss of the thread of do you carry when you ride? Its a sad world we live in if thats a thought that enters you head when going out to enjoy your hard earned purchase. I think I did get the response I was expecting, as our cultures are so very far apart when it comes to guns laws, crime etc, a thug is still a thug and if we could arm ourselves in NZ we would and would shoot if needed, I have been threatened numerous times on the street and can take care of issues with quick wit and humour most of the time, however occassionally it will end in tears (for them), and in the heat of the moment years ago, if armed could have easily pulled a trigger. I now work in a high security Forensic Mental Health Unit and am faced with potential of serious assault everyday from people with either serious Mental Health issues or drug related psychosis which is far more difficult to interpret and the later is potentially more difficult to deal with due to the unpridictability. I feel safer in the unit than I do on the streets. Remember we only have 4 million people which is minute compared to even a small city in the US which when you do a per population study the above comments are most probably correct, more crime related stats than gun related issues, however those stats will rise as more US culture is creeping into NZ youth everyday. As far as gun knowledge I agree I am not the most knowledgable but leave a safety off, have a crash, snag the trigger in ruffelled clothing when scraping down the road, there goes the meat and two vege down below, all hypothetical but you know where I am coming from??? It could happen.

I do love others opinions and love the open debate on here, but please don't insult others in the discussion purely because of their culturing or where they live in the world, NZ has awesome twisty roads for bikes, scenery to die for and open areas with plenty of wild pigs/deer etc to discharge that firearm on your side while riding your Panigale. If only in NZ we could do this we could do a drive by on bunnies up in the Otira pass at 200km/hr LOL.

Please post motorcycle-related threads that are not specific to the 1199 in the Motorcycle Talk section. Thanks.

I have my CCL and I don't carry riding 90% of the time but there are the few times that I do carry when I know I'm out riding in an unfamiliar area or where I just feel like carring. Not because I NEED it but because I'm trained and proficient with it. I'm comfortable concealing it as well as shooting it and I hit what I'm aiming for. It is a right that I'm glad we have in this far from perfect country of ours but I can say that it's one of the few things that we've done right. To each their own, until you have to protect it!

I carry my mini gun on my back, maybe that's why no one cuts me off any more. when that gets to heavy i switch it up with my rpg on my shoulder.

I have coded in RPG (report porgramming generator), I guess carrying around a manual, would offer some protection from small arms fire - common place whre I ride.

Now you are taking things to "what if?"

What if you are walking to your bike and tree fell off and killed you? It could happen!

Of course there are what ifs, but that is stupid.

If you know anything about guns, you leave it on safe at all time, unless you are at aim and ready to pull the trigger.

Only what if in a gun is open bolt systems like M249 or M240 machine guns which operates with open bolt and it can have accidental fire if you were to knock the bolt forward.

All guns that is pistols are close bolt system.

Would love to carry all the time, but I live in the Democratic People's Republic of New York and my permit (which took 9 months, ~$700 and reams of paperwork) only allows me to carry OTW to the range or hunting.
In the DPRNY, you need to show that you handle, personally, more than $2000 per week in a business capicity to get a full carry.
And now, new and improved, you have to register all AR's with the state! Yippie!

:(

Vote with your feet, and move from a state that does not respect your civil rights. You could not pay me a million dollars a day to step foot in NY (or any other state that has the same unconstitutional laws)

Wait - it must be a lot safer than VA due to the strict gun laws, right? MD is similar - I bet Baltimore is a good place to raise a family too.. :)

Let us not forget about the extremely safe city of Chicago with their wannabe gun free state. Just like Obamacare, you have to pass the dumb law to see whats in it. Just wait another 13 years and the record number of skyrocketing gun related homicides there will go back down to pre ban levels then who knows? Maybe It'll be the safest place in the country! (for criminals)

I'm with WAFATBOY, Guns and bikes WTF at least our school kids arn't gettin murdered. Get rids of fire arme and fight like a MAN

I don't mind that solution at all and think it would solve a lot of problems. Once they figure out how to detect all the guns in the country (a ton of them are illegally owned and not registered) and form a line of people waiting to turn them in I'll be the guy at the end of the line. I'll turn them in, but I want to be last. :)

When mentally ill psycopaths choose to fight like a "MAN" I'd love to treat them as one. In the meantime, until they and the rest of the world that thinks that guns kill people, when it's really people that kill people, they all just have to come to their senses and wake up into reality.
Fact: We own and ride a kick ... bike that many can't afford and that can easily be parted out for $$$.
Fact: There are bad people out there in the world that don't care about the law and don't have a moral compass.
Fact: People have been robbed, carjacked and killed for much less than the cost of a Panigale.
Fact: Everyone is a potential victim/target for crime. Even if you live in the alway perfect, crimefree, gun free always sunny delusional world believing "That would never happen to me". Until it does.
I carry because it's better to have protection and not need it than to need protection and not have it.
