After reading all of the sub-par dealer customer service responses on this and other 1199 forums, I'm at least happy to say that my dealer is fantastic. I don't however believe that the lousy customer service experiences are completely dealer related though, since Ducati Italy has always been lax in their attitude about keeping anyone informed about anything...eh, we get to it whena we get to it. Amazing they were able to sell the company with such a pathetic attitude towards their best customers. DNA isn't much better. In both DNA and the dealers' defense, with no info. given, what can they tell us? not much. And, whatever they DO say, will most likley be wrong, since they have no control.
Anyway, here's information direct from Italy. My dealer is one of the leading Ducati dealers in the U.S. They received the largest allocation of bikes delivered for the unveiling on 4/27. They are the only dealer in the U.S. with 3 Master level technicians on staff and their top tech received the #1 master tech in the U.S. award from Ducati. They are a solid race shop that I've dealth with for many years. I received this response this morning:
Hi Chuck,
We have no specific details at this point... One of our customers was over in Italy this past week visiting the factory and he did say that the 1199 base models were starting to roll off the production line!
DNA has started to issue confirmations of orders for the month, but no shipping information has been provided. As soon as we have shipping information and VIN's we will let everyone know!
Generally, it is 5-days from receipt of shipping confirmation that we receive the bikes.
I will keep you posted!
So there it is.
