Update; my base is estimated to arrive by Monday, it should take the dealer a day or two before its ready for pickup.....so it looks as if I'll have it by mid-week next week.

Spoke to my Dealer today. ( Ocala , FL. ) I have the only 1199 standard no ABS in their entire order. Said he's getting eleven bikes in ! He said they will send him one more email before he has an exact date. But , the bike should arrive next week ! Frikkin pumped !

I've always had the 15th-17th in the back of my mind (wish list lol)...Got notification on tuesday (the 8th) that my STD 1199 was at a port in Georgia and will be on its way to the Mid West.

Im really hoping it gets here Tuesday the 15th and they dont delay is giving me a call and setting it up right away...I'd hate for it to get in and they dont have the bodies to set it up, so they might not even call :-/ lol.

Either way, I should have it by the weekend, it's already signed up to be on display at the Air Show @ Air Force Base's ;)

Keep everyone posted

S vs Base

Hello Duck Friends! To add my two cents, I am going with the base. Number 1: Better resale value and Number 2: No way I will out ride the factory suspension it comes with. Besides, 100 lbs of feathers or 100 lbs of iron, which would you pay more for? In this case, both bikes weigh the same so why pay that much more? Both models are also 195HP, so regaurdless of rim weight, they both have the same HP, again 100 lbs of feathers or 100 lbs of iron. Also, the rims on the base are not cheapies; can't help to say if they are 1 pound lighter than previous base models, well on previous base models last year and the year before I beleive where Marchesini rims! Just food for thought and again just brainstorming. If it is the rim weight on the base some are worried about, then get some carbon fibers for less than the S upgrade, which will intern be faster and lighter than the S model for cheaper. I think all models are phenomenal, just sharing why I went with the base. Besides, carbon wheels could be removed and resold or probably put on the 2013 model. Keep in mind also the 2013 base will probably have ABS standard along with other items that the S 2012 has for nearly the same price as a base 2012. This way, I will be nimble to upgrade to a 2013 without much of a loss. Again, to anyone that is a true trackster; hats off to you for the purchase of the S and Tricolore. For me, I will have the bike much cheaper and haul the wife around on it every once in a while since she is not giving me grief for buying it LOL Anyone have any other theories please share, Duck haters please stay out, no need for any attempt at bashing against a well proven bike...;)

For the rims i think they meant the base's rims is 400g lighter than previous models's base rims, where as the marchesini is also another few hundred gram lighter than marchesini.
Unsprung weight difference is more than just numbers.

Picking mine up up at 9am tomorrow.
No bloody way I'm gonna sleep tonight.
Already booked my solicitor ready for my divorce lol

Ah lucky you man, thats what I'd been led to believe too but called my dealer today and now they're saying they're PDI'ing it in Monday. They took delivery of it 2 weeks ago. Gutted, so much for the sunny weekend!

Dealer's been full of false promises since I put down deposit in November, if it wasn't so close to delivery I'd probably be cancelling and placing an order with a different dealer.

Good for you though man, hope u get out in the sun and enjoy it!

They've had it for 2 weeks and you still don't have it. ...., I will be at my dealer every day when I get word that mine has arrived. They are already probably sick of me visiting to find out what the scoop is.

+1

that's what i'm afraid of, it comes in and sit for a day of two.

these guys know how anxious we are but, if they are backed up in the service department then they won't worry about setting our bikes up and getting em out the door asap.

im gonna start calling everyday by mid day tuesday lol

Yeah you should do that.....I nipped away to Spain for a long weekend and suddenly it's taking an extra week or so to get my bike prepped. Give them an inch and they take a mile....

WTF ! Local weather says it's going to rain all next week ! I won't be picking my bike up in the rain ! The weather man better be wrong !
