Anyone got the base model yet?

Picked her up on friday (in the van) weather was awful. Base abs wi termi's on.

Did 240 miles yesterday in the sun, WOW....................................:D

First twin and my first Duc, a very, very happy man.

1. Termi's are loud but not hideously loud - baffles are out. I was considering cancelling them when I heard one with std pipes on, but am actually pleasantly surprised by the termi's. Not offensively loud, very deep sound, and you can keep em reasonably quiet when running through towns - can't wait to hear them once i get her run in. They will sound awesome . Mate's Akra on his rc8r is much louder.

2. Smoked worse than a laboratory beagle when first started. Loads of smoke, worrying amounts. Now i have done 250 miles, no smoke.

3. Handling is sublime. Got dealer to switch rear shock to P, honestly this thing tracks beautifully, amazingly stable corner entry and then just so planted and confidence inspiring mid-corner it's embarrassing. Easily carrying 15-20 mph more corner speed than before and does'n't even feel like your trying - honestly its incredible.

4. Comfort. I am not bike fit, first run out in at least 5 months. I am 5' 7" and it fits like a glove. First bike Iv'e had that just fits and feels like your part of the thing - gobsmacked. Plus I did 250 miles, no aches, no pains, no sore wrists - the only minor point was a little numb bum when sat on the motorway for a short 20 mile stretch, nothing major and not noticeable when you get to the a-roads.

5. Quickshifter - takes a bit of getting used to and will no doubt be better once the revs are higher. Have hit a few false neutrals, but once you get used to it, changes are silky smooth on the gas.

6/. Engine - oh boy, this thing is going to shift once you hit 8k. Quite calm up to 6, nothing earth shattering, just nice and smooth. Starts to build a little between five and six but you can tell its going to be warp factor 7 mr zulu, once she gets to it.

7. Handling - did I mention the handling's pretty good.

8. Paint - like others, have noticed the paint has little swirls and a few hairline scratches, it must be very very soft. Called the dealer soon as I got home and noticed them. Also, the std screen, literally just wiped it with a soft cotton cloth and it had tiny little swirls in it -hmmm.

9. It handles, really and I mean REALLY well.

10. Dash - piece of cake to operate, although I did find quite a few times going for the turn signals and accidentally hitting the change mode button on the turn signal switch. Minor pain in the erse, you'll see what I mean. Have to then hold it down for couple of secs and release throttle to get main screen (and speedo) back again - distracting at speed.

Oh your in for such a treat......

I still can't quite believe it tbh, have ridden many, many bikes and this is just incredible out of the crate.

At the back of mind though there's this tiny little alarm bell ringing for the moment she gets all flustered and throws a wobbler.;)

Hootsmun, did you get yours from Ducati glasgow??
I've been told delivery in under 2 weeks for a base with full termi's...were they ok with your delivery date? am skeptical..
Will be my second Duc...got hooked with the 999 and can't wait to get out on the 1199... ridden a mates 1098 for a bit, nearly bought an 848 last year but was surprised how much down on grunt it felt compared to the 999 so been holding out for the 1199..

I ordered the Base model Panigale and no "base" has arrived here in Manila. Only the Tri-Colore and the "S". My local dealer informed me that no Base models are scheduled to come in yet...so I decided to get an "S" instead. 1st batch of Panigale Tricolore and S units arrived 1st week of May here in the Philippines.

Worth every penny! The Electronic suspension is a breeze to adjust, and the forged aluminum wheels just makes a awesome bike handle even better due it's lighter unsprung weight.

No regrets, except for paying more. But then again..."you get what you pay for" These Ohlins units are top of the line stuff and the wheels not only remove unsprung weight and improve handling but they also look extremely light.

I'd still like to know what you thought of the handling:confused:

Sorry, this "joke" is getting old already:D

No, Newcastle - a nicer run when it needs a service.

Believe there's quite a few base's turning up now. Mine was delayed, but only by a couple of weeks.

Did another 150 miles tonight, checked oil, has used a little but no need to top up. No smoke on start-up since its first run.

Cannot wait till its run-in, what a bike.............

FINALLY......she's arrived! A quick 5 mile ride home through London is all I've had time for today, but all I can say is that the experience was totally and utterly overwhelming. An assault on the senses.

The sound, the (good) vibes, the heat, the looks, the stares from Joe Public...it's like riding through town on a, well, on the loudest, baddest, snarliest, sexiest superbike on the planet really.

First Duke I've had and I'm sold. Totally and properly sold to the man with the widest grin in London.

Quick pic for you here, base with black front mudgard. More pics to follow later but for now I'm off for some celebratory beers. :D:D:D:D
